To those that tried it and did not like it or felt let down, I’d love to here more about what you got from it, and why you thought it was bad, and what you had expected flavor wise.

    Appreciate all the honest feedback.

I suspect they were drinking world class stouts and sours all evening…

This event has always been an unofficial preview of Bourbon County. I was majorly bummed to not try more of the lineup. In years past you didn’t get the whole BCS lineup but it was normally just a beer or two missing (Reserve). I kept telling my group we need to get over to GI for the BW and they convinced me that it would last… so we got there 30 mins in and it had kicked. I know that beer kicking is part of beer fests … I’ll try it soon enough but totally agree the lack of BCS at the fest was a let major down.

GI poured Mon Cheri and Midnight Orange in the early entry hour. I liked the MO when it came out and also after it sat for a year, but I couldn't pick up any orange at all this time.

Didn't GI do new beers every 30 minutes in past? This time I think it was every 60...

I wouldn't say I was let down, more that it wasn't for me, but this is a preliminary opinion as the beer was very cold and I got a tiny pour. I'm still going to try out a bottle if I can get it.

It was very heavy on fig, prune and raisin, rather than the big caramel vibe that I'm used to. The body was also medium to medium-low, rather than thicker-drinking beers like Roaming Elephant and Endolith.

Curious how you would compare it to 2016/2017 BCBBW. I guess I'd call those years Medium-bodied, and the flavors seem right (but I also remember a lot of leather and some tobacco). I don't really ever remember getting any caramel from any Bourbon County BW - even King Henry.

I was really just let down by how one note it was to me. It did not have any of the depth and interplay of flavors that you got from the old school 2013/14 BCBBW.

I got a lot of oak/barrel notes with quite a bit of whiskey heat, some dark fruit notes, and that was it.

I don't know, I'll probably try to seek out a full pour at a later time, but to anyone calling this the single best BCBS release ever...

    Yeah that's insane.

I suspect you just have an unrefined palate and were unable to taste the subtle notes of hype.
