Brato Brewhouse + Kitchen has ceased operations

Ugh I'm legitimately so upset at this news. Did some of their monthly supper clubs and it was ALWAYS my move after a few pints at Notch Brighton to start of a weekend. Their virtual beer dinners during the pandemic actually got my girlfriend to cry because it was the first "normal" thing we were able to do. I know both of the owners will find their footing with something after this, but it still sucks.

 

They were brewery of the year in Boston Magazine in 2020 I think too right?

Food was great, they did a wide variety of styles too.

I assume this means they won't be moving into Harvard Square either?

 

I was able to swing by a handful of times the last couple of years. They had great wings and the in house sausage program was very good as well. It was a nice combination with Notch around the corner. It was always first thing on a Sunday when we'd be there and it was always quiet. I'd imagine it was busier at night but maybe not??

Anyone else hear that Widowmaker is going to move into the old Brato space?

 

Just heard the same from someone at Notch Brighton.

 

Interesting. Widowmaker has been telegraphing a move for a while. Having never been to the former Brato space (shame on me), how does it compare to Widowmaker's current space in Braintree?

 

I went to Brato twice and Widowmaker just once, but if memory serves I'd say Widowmaker's current taproom is a bit bigger than the Brighton spot. But Brato's space does have the outdoor seating and it being near Roadrunner could be a good draw.

 

And close to Lu Lu's and Notch.
