Drinking some 2021 Expedition stout and it’s delicious. This has always been one of my all time favs, but I feel like 2021 release was a step above. I have yet to try any fresh 2022 though…

FlatLander is the reason i got into trading.
There was a stout pack on Tavour for 70 dollars that had Deths Tar and 3 other garbage stouts in it that i talked shit on( with good reason, listerman makes shit stouts) and he reached out. Sent me my first Revolution BA beer and mannnnnnnn....here i am. so far have had Thundertaker, SJ, Cuveé De Grace, Supermassive, Cafe Deth, Gravedigger Billy and DT. World Class stuff we never get in CA . . have also had a lot of other Chicago stuff from friends , but i stay away from GI BCBS...16 dollars for ONE bottle!? pfft no thanks @Beer_Economicus ( white seal)

oh yeah, between floyds’ BA 4pks and Rev’s BA 4pks you’re set. i actually think Rev’s strong point is their BA Bws but their stouts are solid too.

I had batches 1 and 2 which were in 500ML bottles. Can't remember which, but one of them was incredible, the other was just ok.
They released a full barrel aged version (basically) called Moment of Truth in 2021, and it was one of the best stouts I had all year.

Thursday: Wolf's Ridge IX Anniversary Blend - bunch of things blended together. Kind of like a Frankenstein of a stout with part barleywine and tripel.

Sunday: Masthead Coffee Vanilla Sunkiller. A lot more straightforward, but also a killer.

Dessert First - brewed with cranberry, pecans, vanilla and lactose. Easily the weirdest one, but gotta go weird...

Too many stouts, not enough time. Or money. Or physical capacity. There were a handful available on Sunday, but alas, walking.

SJ is great but gets too sweet( same with ryeway and thundertaker) . thats all I've had as far as Rev BW goes though, i passed on Lumber for fear of the sweetness they seem to have .
DT and Gravedigger Billy are god damned Satan Tier though, pure excellence.

    a direct quote from Rev
"Enjoy an ample body that suggests sweetness but still finishes smooth and dry."

i am super sensitive to any sweetness in beer though and dont really enjoy it. I am a major Rev fan though :sunglasses:

edit: if it was perfect it would have a 100 score on here:stuck_out_tongue:
double edit : why tf doesnt DT have a 100 score:angry:

it’s definitely sweet but it’s not sweet from pastry adjuncts so to me it’s acceptable. but man it’s pure butterscotch and toffee and whiskey. i love it!

Hair of the Dog/Firestone Walker collaboration described as a "chocolate cherry bourbon stout" and weighing in at 12% ABV.

    3.99/5 rDev -1.2%
    look: 3.75 | smell: 4 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4
2021 vintage. Poured from a 12oz bottle into a snifter. Served in the high 50s to low 60s F.

A vigorous pour yields a clear bistre body with harvest gold highlights and a fine beige cap receding to a vague collar. Barely rousable lacing; moderately viscous legs.

Bourbon, cola, and chocolate covered cherries in the nose.

Fruit forward palate entry, tart cherries leading into a leathery old-ale-like malt delivery with not-quite-vinuous stewed fruit/mincemeat notes. Bittersweet finish with more acidity from the chocolate. Earthy mild bitterness. Strawberry wine, wax seals, and faint smoke. Barrel notes are present but surprisingly delicate (not muted). Perhaps some esters from the yeast...

Oily, creamy, thick mouth-feel with very light carbonation. Alcohol is warming but fairly restrained.

Big, cherry-forward, English-influenced curiosity from some masters of their craft - albeit not really to style at all.

Enjoying this "bigger, boozier" Dragon's Milk, a collaboration with Binnys, checking in at 14.3%, tasty stuff for sure!

Enjoying a 3 Floyds Crushing Mass, man love the coffee and bourbon additions to this bad boy. A hint of chocolate presumably from the malt base and a touch of vanilla. Many thanks to Dan @DIM for sending this as IMHO a world class BAIS!
    Cheers!

Totally agree! Got to enjoy this when in DC at ChurchKey Friday night. Reminded me of Speedway Stout but with more of a coffee presence.
    Cheers!
