Behind coffee, coconut has become my second favorite stout additive.

Vanilla is quickly becoming one of my least favorites. It's better as a support addition, not the main, or only

@Resistance88 and I have discussed this many times. I like real vanilla bean flavors. Not Kroger vanilla extract. As you said, it works best as a support.

I love vanilla as an addition, but I completely agree with you about NOT being the main flavor. It's a great accent, but any more is off-putting.

Abuelita's Super Especial from the Bruery. A bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with cacao nibs, cocoa powder, Madagascar vanilla beans, and cinnamon. 15.2% ABV. I really like this one. Great integration of the adjuncts. Not too sweet at all. Still some nice roasted malts from the stout. Cheers!

I’m going to request people stop asking for thicker stouts. This thing is literally syrup and it’s just so over the top and almost gross. I don’t think anyone actually enjoys this, other than posting about how thick it is. If it didn’t have coffee in it to balance out the sweetness, it would be undrinkable. If it was half the consistency, it would be top notch

Well, the problem is: How do you make Vanilla extract? You put vanilla beans in some type of alcohol. You Ina Garten recommends making your own by using vodka. So, it’s sort of a natural occurrence when you add vanilla beans to beer for it to thin it out and add an extract note if at a certain level.

Obviously you don’t want it too overdone, but my point is that by adding vanilla beans, you literally create vanilla extract. So, it’s tough.

Nice re-brand of the Russian Messenger. A lot of their beers are just okay, but that is one of their best.

I really wanted to like this when I tried it early this year. I ended up sending 3 cans back after tasting early signs of infection unfortunately. Do you know if this is a fresh batch?
