Next up is Field Hop from Dwinell Country Ales in Goldendale, WA. Compliments of @kemoarps in BIF #16. A spontaneous ale brewed with foraged yarrow flowers.

Poured from a can at fridge temp. Pours a transparent yellow with a thin layer of fairly "loose" head. Not sure how else to describe it - not thick and gooey. The nose is fantastic. Floral notes, lemon, sour patch kids, funk, slight vanilla, grass, and more sweet candy. Wow - what a great mix of smells.

The taste is delicious. Sour upfront. Lemon, orange, tart, grass, that floral note (I'm assuming the yarrow flowers?), a good amount of barnyard funk, wheat, leather, and a slight spicy oak note. My first thought is that this is just a really fun beer to taste. Lively and enjoyable. Mouthfeel is dry and fairly light. Nice sweet aftertaste. Great beer. So happy that I got to try this one!

#2, this is Loosey Juicy, a hazy from a local brewery (Short Fuse Brewing Company), available on tap in the hotel restaurant - and not in a styrofoam “glass!”

Pours a hazy orange color with a creamy white head that quickly fade. Tangerine and grapefruit notes on the nose, and that follows on the taste, with the added bonus of some mango and passion fruit. Really nice.

The mouthfeel is medium and per the style. This is a nice hazy, if a bit “by the numbers.” Glad I had the opportunity to try it.

I'm digging into @BigIronH's BIF box. After a couple of IPAs tonight I was craving something malty and Oddside Ale's Apple Pie Brown ale didn't disappoint. It's a perfect Brown Ale for the season - gimmicky for sure but that's the point.

It's cloudy and pours a color between iced tea and ruby with a large, creamy, light khaki-colored head and soapy lacing. It has a really nice smell with apple, raisin, and a buttery malt that simulates pie crust. The taste largely follows the nose with lots of apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg. over an earthy, sweet malt base. There is a touch of bitterness at the finish. It does a good job of simulating a Fall dessert. It has a crisp, fairly lite mouthfeel with pleasant carbonation. This year's release is 6.1% ABV which gives it decent substance. Overall, Apple Pie Brown succeeds in simulating an apple pie. I wouldn't make a steady diet of this beer but it's certainly pleasant drinking.

Thought it would be interesting to visit the American Craft Beer Experience in Tokyo. Apparently it was annual until covid, didn't happen the last three years. This is Exhibit A - The Cat's Meow

Bodhi is the Official Unofficial Beer of the NW forum. Bodhi and/or Johnny Utah are in most of our fridges, most of the time. Georgetown makes some good beer.

Glad you liked it. That beer was my introduction to Zappa hops as well. Have a good time in Aruba! Let us know what the beer culture is like.

It is, theoretically, possible that I may have been in the same building as at least one 1 beer tonight.

Appearance: Clear pale yellow, big head.

    Smell: Toasted crackers/saltines.

Taste: Nice sweetness then cracker malted flavor. Light and grassy finish, lasting dryness.

Overall: Very nice and clean pilsner, well balanced, very drinkable and tasty. Glad I found it in Colorado.

They really do. I’m impressed with the breadth of styles they can do and pretty much nail them all.

Glad you liked it Rob. I found this to be a one and done for me as well but it was a good one and done, I think you feel the same. Overall, I struggle to think of an Odd Side Ale I didn’t enjoy. Cheers my friend. More to come!
