[IMG] Sorry @Roguer we just drove 20 plus hours from Universal Florida and I had to pick this collaboration from Kettlehead Brewing and Spyglass Brewing. Poured into a 16 oz Snulip glass canned this week. Pours a hazy straw yellow with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves some nice thick streaks of lace with nice retention. 4.25

Aroma is peach, mango, white grapes, and mandarin. 3.75

Taste follows peach, mango, white grapes, and mandarin. 3.50

Mouthfeel is maybe medium, a little more carbonation than I would expect, maybe a tad sticky, and at 7.9% plenty of flavor but not a very good flavor for me personally. 3.25

Overall two of my favorite NH brewers, especially of this particular style and yikes it is going to be work getting through the 2 four packs I grabbed. 3.5 Cheers

    Sounds good to me!

How much is that going for, if you don't mind my asking? Since the Grand Cru is about $15 for a 4 pack I can see this being a good bargain.

It's only 49 degrees here, but the sun is warm and there's no wind. I see that our northern brethren are dealing with the wonderful lake-effect snowfall. I remember when I was in school at UVM and we had four feet of snow, thanks to Lake Champlain. Some of you will be eclipsing that amount. Take things easy when shoveling, don't want any heart attacks.
My new beer for today is Elvis Juice, a grapefruit infused IPA, from BrewDog.
    Canned 10/14/22.
Cherry amber color, small white head, tiny bit of lace.
Aroma of grapefruit and sweet malt.
Disappointing taste. Grapefruit and caramel, very muted.
    OK mouthfeel. Not very bitter.

I had this on tap last night at the brewery, Myrcene Ale Co. in Old Saybrook Connecticut. I liked it so much I brought 4-cans home. The brewer told me that Dunk's Island is an actual island in that town, but I failed to find it on Google Maps.
Poured from a 16oz undated can to a Pilsner glass at fridge temp.
Body is near opaque brown/black with red hues near the edges of the glass where the light can make it through. There is a khaki head that is quite puffy. This head fades in due time but lacing is pretty strong throughout the session even without swirling the glass.
Aroma is caramel, chocolate, compost, and just a hint of some floral/citrus aroma.
The taste is malty, with mild sweetness in the front but there is an impressively dry finish. Similar to the smell, the flavors are caramel and chocolate but also maybe dried cherries or dates.
The mouthfeel is pretty light and it is well carbonated.
This is a very enjoyable Dunkel. I give it a 4.0.

Humble Forager Existential Bliss BBA Imperial Stout, 12.5% ABV. Pours thick and darkest brown/black with a real nice two-finger dark brown head that dissipated quickly, leaving an oily sheen. Nose is strong dark chocolate, bourbon, and vanilla. Taste follows, moderately sweet, slightly bitter. Nice smooth mouthfeel, overall world-class.

Hello NBWers. After having one of “those weeks” and missing a couple NBWs, seeking out some new beers was all too easy. And I decided to go out of my lager-heavy wheelhouse. First up, Hoksem, a Belgian style witbier from Schilling. 4.4% abv., canned 09/01. Pours a hazy, golden straw color with a creamy eggshell white head. Aroma was spicy clove, funk, bread yeast, and apricot jam. First sip unfolds as clove, tart wheat, yeast, peppery. Mouthful is light but very creamy/ smooth. Such an easy drinker. I really enjoyed this one.

My guess would be something like $13 - 14?

Up at 4:30 to duck hunt, and after that Michigan game, I need a beer. Why not a @Roy_Hobbs mystery beer
Pours a nice burgundy hue, nice creamy head that sticks around, sticky lacing, taste is very Smokey up front, campfire, oakey, medium carb and body, maybe a smoked Porter, or rauchbier? Going to savor this for a bit and I’ll be back with the reveal

I gave up on waging war with the leaves for the day and decided to head back inside for beer #2. This is Rum Barrel Aged Brick Kiln from Jackie O's, received courtesy of @Ozzylizard in our BIF this past spring.

    Very good beer.
Nice looking reddish mahogany brown on the pour, settling into a darker fully opaque brown with just a hint of red. Half finger of beige colored head that receded to a thin ring. Decent legs. Aroma is rich with caramel and sweet molasses, along with vanilla. Very nice smelling beer. The sweetness on the tongue is nicely balanced by rum / rum barrel flavors & toffee. Nice warming from the alcohol but no alcohol burn. Silky smooth and medium + feel. Overall I'm really digging this. Good beer.

My third new beer of the weekend comes courtesy of @MacMalt , and wow, I was* not disappointed!

*am, since I'm still very much sipping on this one.

This is Kane's Stacking Casks Blend 8, a 14% ABV English Barleywine that ... well, I'll let the description from the BA database explain it:

"Blend 8 was created from an Oatwine that was aged in Willett Bourbon barrels for 35 months that was blended with a Rye Barleywine aged in a Woodford Reserve Straight Malt Whiskey barrel for 39 months.

This blend was then finished in a single 500L Louis Royer XO Cognac puncheon for an additional three months."

    Holy. Schneikes.

While I'm in the cut-and-paste mood, I think I'll just drop my impressions straight from my review:

Nose is potent and swimming in whiskey and cognac notes. Almost lurking beneath are lusher notes of caramel, wheat, pepper, honey, and leather, along with slightly brighter notes of pear and apple.

It all comes together on the palate brilliantly. Tasting notes of apple, honey, leather, cognac, whiskey, and brown sugar appear in that order, not so much in waves or thirds but almost in discrete moments, each player stepping forth to sing a line as the chorus continues in the background. Additional whispers of prune, raisin, cinnamon, and chocolate.

Smooth, approachable, slow sipper. Full bodied but not chewy; bold but not aggressive. It's akin to sipping on an incredibly easy digestif. Long finish.

Whew! This is damn good. I expected no less from a Kane blended BA barleywine, but still.

    Good evening NBW
My first new beer of the weekend is The Undertaker Imperial Red Rye IPA courtesy of @beergoot
    [IMG]

16oz undated can poured into a nonic pint glass at fridge temp 8.5% ABV 78 IBU per can. The beer pours opaque medium amber with khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin cap and leaves a web of lacing. The aroma is mild with citrus, pine and earthy notes. The taste is more rye influenced with earthy, spicy malt and more piney, citrusy hop flavor. Medium bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with less than medium carbonation and a semi dry finish. Overall, good.

Thanks Dave. I'm a big fan of rye beers and there aren't many around anymore.

    Cheers all!

    Hello New Beer Weekend!!!

I'll start off with a 2 for 1 special here. These 2 beers I shared a bit ago with a great friend.

    First up from @Beersnake1
    [IMG]
Pliny The Elder - Russian River Brewing - Imperial IPA - 8% ABV.

I loved this beer, and thought I rated it accurately, yet I'm 4.1% off what is average for this site. I do not get it, but I was quite impressed with it, and would drink it again in a heartbeat.

Fairly clear golden pour with a 1 finger white head. Decent retention and some lacing on the glass.
The aroma has a pleasing hop aroma with pine and some citrus.
Flavor is hops, of course. There's a mellow pine and citrus up front. This flavor builds toward the back. There's a grassy earthy flavor that comes into the mix.
The body is quite full and decent. Somewhat sticky as well.
    Solid world class IPA.

    Next up and from @Roy_Hobbs
    [IMG]
Very Gggreennn - Tree House Brewing - NEIPA - 8.3%

Again, how am I so much below the average here? I am a bit burnt out on the style in general, but, when it's done right, I love it. I loved this beer. Oh, well Delicious.

Murky, hazy orange colored pour with a 1 finger white head. The head retention is quite good and there's great lacing on the glass. It clings like glue.
Nose is quite full of citrus that is tropical. Lots of mango and guava.
Flavor is full of tropical citrus. Lots of mango, guava, orange, grapefruit.
The body is soft, sticky, juicy, and quite full.
    Delicious

I thank both of the senders of beer from the bottom of my heart to be able to try these beers.
Part of me wants to stop today because I'm so far off the charts today, though, part of me wants to have one more beer today. We'll see if I can pull one more off today. Cheers all!

    Hey what's going on!?

I was up in Cleveland area of Ohio last weekend for a wedding. Had a blast and since I drove up I stocked up on some local goodies.

Strangely since I have returned back to the great state of Maryland, I just have been too busy and hardly touched my new stash with some exceptions.

Had a good time up there, different vistas and people (and weather.. eek!) But had much fun.

    So let's get this started....

What's new for our hero today?

    R. Shea Brewing - West Coast IPA

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Pale amber with hints of orange and fairly decent clarity in the body color. Off white, almost khaki with light tinges of yellow color in the head. Classic three finger and bold soapy bubbles with lots of cling and ring lacing. Large staying power and big retention as well.

Aroma is nice if a little odd. Faint touches of somewhat grapefruit, but there's a gummy caramel quality hiding behind this also. Nice hinting pine like bitterness also on the nose.

Palate is fairly solid. Orange and light touches of grapefruit flavor, but more of a juice orange with an almost tea like mellow bitterness. Soft bodied with an almost cushy mouthfeel. Finish is a little bit understated, kind of numbing, but surprisingly non existent aftertaste. Mid palate seems to be where the heart of the brew is locked in, with an understated classic fruit note of hop.

Decent IPA, but I wonder if there's something missing, or perhaps more tinkering with this style than as needed to be. Either way it's a solid drinking experience.

    look: 4 | smell: 3.75 | taste: 4 | feel: 4 | overall: 4 | Final : 3.94

    Cheers!
