Giving this collaboration another go and it is just odd and mediocre. Cheers all.

 

Looks can be deceiving. But odd and mediocre are definitely not to adjectives you want to hear when reviewing a beer.
I'm sure your next beer will be better!

 

I hear you, I stopped purchasing collaborations after quite a few “odd and mediocre” experiences.

 

So happy I scored this on our trip.

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for today's thread start! I'm not a big fan of tripels in general, but in a previous life I picked up a case of LaTrappe on the cheap because it had a couple of busted bottles (Gravity's a bitch!) and really enjoyed it! Next time I'm in the EU, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Today's New Breakfast Beer is a survivor from my recent Texas pilgrimage:



Decent coffee-infused brown ale, as long as you remember that brown ales should be served at >54 degrees F. Colder than that, this brew is pretty harsh, think luke-warm coffee. Rating 3.94, rDev +2.1%! Hah! I gave a beer a higher rating than average!

 

Great AEW pay per view/evening having my nephew over. Good food (even though I somehow online ordered no cheese on the pizza-thank god I had mozzarella in the fridge), good beer, good show, good time. Having this eye opener before bowling and some outside Christmas decorating.

Double LP, double song.

 

Alaskan Winter Ale*.

An old favorite which I hadn’t seen in recent years — and perfectly timed now that we’re into “the icebox is on the front porch” season:



Celebration finally arrived at my local packie and I crushed a 12-pack in one night (but I was in fine form the next day , thanks to last week’s near hangover at Stub And Herb’s):



And lastly, the dark chocolate variant of George Hunter Stout from Castle Danger.

It’s in their winter variety pack, and a standout. Deftly balanced lactose sugar with cocoa nibs aged on the base recipe used for their very good American Stout:



And in classic form, I started the day (4 A.M.!) with coffee and Steel Reserve.

I hope that you all have a great Thanksgiving week, and remain above the fray of the traditional Black Friday freakout.

*I crushed a six-pack in one night and felt only slightly indulgent. It is so unique and so well balanced, it was an easy trick to do!

 

I haven’t had this in a while, still tasting as awesome as it ever was!

Happy Sunday - a cold and brisk one it is, here on the north coast....it's up to 26, wind chill of 14 - Emma and I will do our usual daily hike after lunch today!



GF invited us over for dinner last evening, so of course, true to his name (Italian for "kisses"), I had to get some doggie smoochos...Baci!

 

Imperial Oak ups the abv in their Billy Dee's Porter for this, Double Dee's imperial porter and rested it in Willet Rye Barrels for a year.
Glorious spicy, peppery notes hovering over the roast cocoa bean flavors.

 

Warming up with a still delicious Spaten Oktoberfest Ur-Märzen 07.23.
