I learned I had Hep C a decade b4 it acquires that moniker in the 70's. A doc described what it was doing to my liver as identical to being a hard core alcoholic. I was forced to go on the wagon to extend my life. I was a very reluctant teetotaler for two decades. Long story short, the 15th anniversary of my liver x-plant is coming up this Spring. High among the list of miracles is my return to moderate alcohol consumption. Right after a new lease on life and its attendant pleasures with my family, etc. I count enjoying beer and wine among my finest rewards. After 15 years OFF the wagon, my liver function are at the low end of normal. Like I said, -- the luckiest boy. I live in NM. I only drink two beers a night, but I have another blessing -- I can afford to drink well. This summer I made a pilgrimage to Firestone's Barrelaging plant. Now you know how I roll.
