OG hippy with long dreddy beard who only gets to enjoy one beer a month now, but I love to visit this site and get my "beer fixes" from all of you who still can enjoy our favorite beverage to hearts' content.

Back in the 80's I dreamed of a day other Americans would discover all the great beer styles I had discovered imported from other countries. Wife #2 got me a homebrew setup late 80's so I would save money by brewing my own. So glad to see how popular enjoying and brewing better beer has become. Cheers, y'all, from Ardonia, NY, a straight shot across the Hudson from the town where the captain of the MNT (who just advanced to knockout round) is from.

    Groovy, you hippie!

You've got some kind of fortitude to be able to talk/discuss beer without being able to drink it. Kudos to you for hanging around here with your experience to give to others!

Just so we have Trey and Jerry together, even if its just digitally...:beers:

Thanks for continuing to contribute here with us even if you can't indulge like we still can, your once and a while NBW posts are always welcome to me and I love reading them.

PS you are also the one who got me hooked on making kernel popcorn, though I still haven't made/found tomato powder. My go to combo since then has been kerrigold, little bit of salt, lots of maple dust...

    Cheers Dave!

I guess they always advance to the knockout round

At this point it is a strange game of who will outlast whom, me or my cellar. Hard to handicap, I'm 70, and at one per month there are about 6 more years of beer left in the cellar. I also am living now as ascetically as possible (be happy to share what that means by DM if you or anyone is interested) and for me to buy something that isn't an absolute necessity requires offsetting somehow with reduced consumption of something else

Cheers to you as well my friend!

One thing I can say is that I never missed an opportunity to squeeze the maximum enjoyment and experience from life right up to my health problems, so I hardly feel I am missing out now on anything, just glad to be alive and still able to enjoy many things.

Walmart has trouble stocking tomato powder for some reason, but their on-line shop has some now (as of two weeks ago) I have it down to a science with onion and chili powder combined with the tomato powder and two tablespoons of EVO dripped on to the kernels. Soooo good, I think I prefer it this way to ways I'm not allowed to consume.

So great to have access to all the music we do nowadays. Lately I'm loving Spafford too, and getting back into Phil Keaggy.

I enjoyed listening to Spafford the times I have, Goose is really really growing on me though...I can't believe I'm saying that but I have really enjoyed the lives stuff I have heard from them too.

It's so funny for an old fart like me who got into the Dead in the 60's, and who has seen sooo many shows and bands over the years, to hear the continuing controversies about certain bands and certain fans. For me music is like a wonderful drug that either is a feeling I enjoy or one I don't. Either the music "gets me there" or it doesn't. My favorite music is jam and how great is it that there are so many options of incredible musicians doing their takes and collaborating and building on others'? A friend sent me Taboose doing Hungersite and it blew me away, man, so tasty! People make their identities out of their allegiance to certain bands, like other bands are threats somehow, or undeserving of folks' enjoyment, it's so funny.

Last night as I did my NBW post I had a Goose vid/music on and it 100% got me there, when that uncontrollable impulse to smile, bop around, and out loud say "oh man." I'd say that is a sign of it "getting here" :sunglasses::grin:

MSG is only a few weeks away, I cannot wait to again feel that "steady" ground beneath my feet moving ever so slightly up and down to the collective energy of 20,000 souls.

I grew up near Poughkeepsie and visit at least once a year. Lots of great beer in the Hudson Valley these days! Cheers.

Totally agree! Yeah, a lot of very talented musicians out there right now, easily as many as I remember back in the "good old days". Have fun at the shows, sad to say my days of attending shows are over, but I def. already had more than my fill.

Indeed. Two of my favorite breweries in the world are within an hour of me, Suarez and Industrial Arts, with another 10+ world class ones also nearby. Plus world class cideries now too! Beer/cider heaven here nowadays.
