Good morning BAs, time to rise and shine!
Usual chores under way, taking my coffee break - FBS:

Bottled 10/4/22. Poured at 53°. Lots of coffee this fresh…

Beautiful 60° and sunny morning, perfect weather for walking the dogs. Not much going on otherwise. Cheers and have a fantastic Friday y’all!

    Good morning DZ and all!

Drinking La Trappe Quad. Love the caramel note in this one. It’s cold, some light snow is even expected over the weekend. Nothing unusual.

    Cheers!

Thanks for opening the Friday Bar @DoctorZombies ! Sadly I am not having the same pleasurable coffee experience that you were enjoying an hour ago.

Full review in the Cellar Review Thread. Long story short, this is 16 months beyond Goose Island's recommended aging list, and it is a muddle mess, though strictly attributable to my tardiness. Six more remain in my basement, hoping beyond hope for a different experience from this refrigerated "cellared" version.

Cross post for the first song selection for emphasis.

    G'day all!

I'm drinking, what's likely but not definitely, from my last 6pack.

It is snowing again and temperatures are dropping quickly. Yay.

    Prost!

The day is so nice I’ve decided to enjoy a second FBS on the back patio:

Bottled 10/4/22. Poured at 54°. Sublime.

The early morning mist has long since burnt off and it is currently 66°, sunny, and slightly breezy. I may do some light yard cleanup, and I may get the 1950’s-style white tinsel Christmas tree down from the garage attic as well as the colored disc that when illuminated, changes the color of the tree as the disc rotates. Totally old-school.

My dad owned a Christmas tree farm in WVa, and as a young man I helped plant 1,000s of seedlings, and harvested many beautiful trees over the years; thus, I prefer a real tree… but Mrs. Z loves her mid-century modern, so I go along with the flow…and I admit it is cool looking! Cheers gang!

Dang that good weather and what it forces a body to do! My Uncle Woody (Woodrow Clark) a Baptist preacher and a social liberal had a beautiful farm in Copper Hill, Va. and he grew Christmas trees, cabbage (for Kroger), millet, corn, and a huge variety of vegetables. His property crossed the Blue Ridge Parkway. He was a javelin specialist in the 1936 Olympics and actively farmed into the late 80s. He was a remarkable athlete always. We went there for Thanksgiving when the kids were young and always brought back a perfect tree. He let the kids drive his golf cart everywhere. It was an idyllic time.

That sounds like Heaven. Your Uncle sounds like quite the man.
My dad retired from Union Carbide South Charleston plant and bought 77 acres on the Poca River as a hobby farm/retirement income. He had a huge garden, fruit trees (that he and I planted) and some grass for hay. Up on the mountain we planted Blue Spruce, Scotch Pine and White Pine. We timbered some of his woods and sold cords of split, seasoned oak in the fall months for $30/cord delivered and stacked. Those were fun days…Cheers!

Emma and I did a nice hike - fed some birds out of hand - chickadees and nuthatches mostly - bit tricky to get pics while holding a dog and seed in one hand and camera in the other.....juggling, anyone?

Finishing the pour from yesterday - awesome brew! Esp. for a 2018 bottle

That sounds very familiar to me. I have grown to love the mountains through the years. We always went through Floyd on the way to Woody's and I spent a lot of time in Blacksburg years ago. Now Floyd is a very hip local and has quite a collection of folks from everywhere. There's a magical place in Woolwine, Va. that is an abandoned state park with trails up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and back around very steep terrain to the trailhead. We seemed to have the place to ourselves. Nearby you can find fairy stones. It's the only place on earth where they are found.
