That cranberry-orange Pursuit of Freedom is tasty and refreshing.

No Green Gene or Lean Gene for the health conscious?

 

I don't recall seeing Mean Gene available since you put on a Keg after Mean Gene Okerlund passed away. Is this keg from the OG 2014 batch or a new batch brewed recently?

I never have had Bean Gene before, so definitely tempted to ignore the possible rain this evening for a shot!

Just here to sing the praises of VSO Dark Mode. Wonderful big barrel yet super balanced.

 

I happened to grab the same beer tonight, and I couldn't agree more. It's such an improvement over the non-VSO version, which in its own right was not a bad beer by any measure.

 

For anyone coming to the Gene Jacket party, we're going to have an in-person holiday deal going with 2021 vintages that we still have in stock. Deth's Tar, Ryeway, Dark Mode, Maple Jacket, Deth's Tar 19.2 for $90 pre-tax (normally add up to $137).

 

Coconut Eugene is fantastic. Wish they would can this.

Last Snow vibes

 

I really enjoyed that beer last Spring. Tonight I enjoyed Bean Gene or the first time ever, and the new batch of Mean Gene which has always been one of my favorite Revolution prior releases.

I really enjoyed the dark roast coffee flavor in the BG, didn't get much of the base and the bourbon sat back and let the coffee run with the lead.

The Mean Gene was incredible, really loved the play between the excellent base Eugene and the bourbon / barrel. For some reason, this beer felt much stronger ABV wise, despite the fact it shares the same abv (10.3%). Would really love to see Mean Gene rolled out in a future DW release.

Nice crowd tonight, may return next week to try a few more. Grabbed the 2021 beer package as well, I've always had good experiences with refrigerated Rev DW cans even after a 3-4 years on them.

 

Finally got around to picking up my VSODM, Ryeway, and SJ cans yesterday on my way to the Metro. That VSODM is great after it warms up (had a slight green apple tartness when cold, but that gave way to a nice barrel quality). Not a great idea to drink it on an empty stomach, feeling every bit of that 14.4%. It was too smooth and too balanced, it went down too quickly!

 

So is the DB VSOJ in person only?

No online release? Didn’t see anything mentioned on the Facebook post on it so I wondered.
