Plus, the logical side of me ( some times a normal percentage) would say maybe some leakage from the cork & & positve pressure made that happen on the outside

    I'm back!
We went and helped my mom with the show/bazaar this afternoon and it was good to see and good to be helpful. I totally meant to take a couple of pictures to share with y'all lovely people, but completely forgot until we finished tear down and got home. D'oh!

    Luscious from The Alchemist.
I've only ever had one other Alchemist beer. That being the inimitable Heady Topper, courtesy of @Roguer way back during NBS BIF #1. That was a long time ago! (Maynard did also send me a can of Heady [as well as a can of Focal Banger!], both of which I'm excited to get into)
@WunderLlama sent this along as part of his massive haul of NE goodies here during this most recent, 16th iteration of the NBS BIF.

The pour is that gorgeous dark dark dark brown that's just this side of black, and polished clean looking like obsidian, if obsidian were dark dark dark brown just this side of black instead of actually black. It's got a soft velvety head in that espresso/mocha range that retains at least a fuzzy presence, though it shows no interest in leaving a lasting mark, as there's no lacing along the glass.

The aroma is simple but incredibly intoxicating (not in like an alcohol intoxicating manner, but like in a seductive intoxicating manner). It's primarily espresso beans and chocolate, but they are rich nuanced versions of each of those base flavours and oh man they smell tasty. The chocolate especially is that dark chocolate that presents almost floral/berry characteristics and probably costs like a million dollars per bar, with the label being sure to mention the single origin and listing the head farmer by name or something.

The flavour leans far more into the chocolate than the coffee, though it's more a rich chocolate syrup/fancy chocolate milk range rather than the dark bar that the aroma presented. There is a sweet upper layer that reminds me of dehydrated fruits and plays really nicely with the chocolate. There is a bitter espresso tlit to the top end and finish, though the aftertaste, etc, is more the sweetness. The sweet finish actually kind of reminds me of lactose sweetness, but I don't think there was any lactose used in this brew, just kind of reminds me of that direction.
I feel like it's harder to find base imperial stouts these days, that haven't been augmented with adjuncts, or boosted with barrel aging, and I'm really digging this one.

Thanks for sending it along Maynard! This is delicious!
