My wife and I did some Christmas shopping this morning, and had a successful trip. Got home and assembled our fake balsam fir tree. Now I am writing out some Christmas cards. My wife says we should do them on the computer, but I enjoy writing them out, particularly when I have this beside me.

    Have a good Thursday!

Your post today reminds me of mine and my mother decades long friends from Sonoma county, CA writing up a Christmas card/end of year letter to us every winter up until several years ago until the internet pretty much killed that.

They’re retired and volunteers now in pets shelters as far as I know, late 70s both. We visited them in 2012 in San Francisco and Sonoma. Great memories.

    Happy Thursday BA's

Hard to "imagine" (sorry, John) that it was 42 years ago today that John Lennon was shot and killed outside his apartment in NYC.....I remember that day well - I was 22 years old.....his music (and many others) had a major influence on me growing up.....

today - December 8th - is also known as "Bodhi Day" in certain Asian / Buddhist cultures - a day to celebrate the enlightenment of the Buddha

My altar got a cleaning and candle and incense burned earlier today - I have collected some very old and very interesting iconography of a Buddhist nature over the years......

Aslin Triple Orange Starfish, the beer is kind of a boozy mess. I'd heard great things about the brewery & I was excited when they began to distribute in my state. From not having any sort of decipherable dating code, this is the third offering that has been very underwhelming.

Unusually early in the day for this noob, but when I'm stuck in my home office all day watching training videos, I need something for my sanity.

I agree that the beer is great. I have one bottle of 2019 left that I think I will wait until Xmas Eve to open.

Enjoying a nice easy drinking "modern take" of a WCIPA from a collaboration between Burial out of Asheville and Cinderlands out of Pittsburgh. Very flavorful with a nice citrus and tropical fruit spicing but is very balanced with little perceived bitterness.
    Cheers!

Black looking body (dark brown in actuality), clear yet opaque in appearance; thick, velvety, tan head, long lasting. Lightly roasted grains and bitter chocolate greet the nose; a bit of earthy spiciness. Rich, chocolatey flavor; suggestions of vanilla and light brown sugar; earthy sweetness offset with moderate sense of dark grain husk bitterness. Heavy body; velvety.

A very nice, straightforward take on a Baltic porter, it brings dark grain deliciousness with a heavy, mildly chewy mouthfeel.
