A classic and one that I’ve always been fond of. Sadly, I believe this is no longer being distributed. Was lucky enough to pick some up on a recent visit. As a side note, the renovation that was done at the brewery is fantastic. The space is great, food was damn good and the service was excellent.

Coming back to this thread with a tasty treat that I picked up at Tree House several weeks ago. This is barrel blended quadruple shot imperial coffee milk stout. Registers 12% ABV. Ive been wanting to try this one and even though Ive been under the weather this week, especially today, I am opening this bottle!

    onto my review:
I picked up this 12 oz bottle at the brewery about 3 months ago. The the bottle has been in my cellar since then.
Pouring into my snifter at cellar temp the beer pours a jet black no lightener coffee color with a dark brown creamy dense head of 1 cm foaming up. I gave a pretty aggressive pour to get any head to build up. I dont get much lattice when I swirl, but do get some dark legs or temporary staining on my glass as the beer very slowly rejoins the rest of the liquid in the bottom of my glass. Thick coating beer this one is.
The aroma is dark chocolate fudge and some rich coffee notes. The coffee aroma is slightly sweetened, not just a black roast note. There is a little bit of brown sugar and cocoa powder in there too. no hint of hops and ABV is hidden. Label doesnt say what type of barrel aging, but I assume bourbon as I get some bourbon and vanilla mixing in on deeper sniffs.
First sip reveals a pretty big thick body with smooth texture and gentle soft carbonation. The beer coats my palate with each sip and leaves a covering on my lips.
Flavor is rich fudge and brownie, mixing with sweetened coffee and roasted malts. Hints of vanilla and bourbon come up on the finish. There is also just the hint of warming on the swallow and no hop details detected.
A big chocolatey coffee imperial stout. I enjoy this brew, but am getting some heartburn towards the end of the bottle. Coffee acidity? too much lactose? who knows, but it is part of the final experience for me.

The Transient “Uckley” series is one of the best Midwest barrel aged stout programs sound. But I will say this-you should like a bit of thick, oily, syrupyness in your stouts, otherwise it’s not for you.
