Probably short of DB Assassin, but Pear Brandy Leto and DB Pear Leto are obtainable.

I keep searching for this in PA - still hasn't landed here yet. Frustrating.

Those Veritas have little to no value over retail. You can find them for $25 or so on FB trade/buy groups if you go looking for them.

Are 22 Assassin and BA Huna values pretty similar?

I would think ba huna would be lower. I haven’t seen an ISO post for anything cigar city in recent memory.

Would Arabesque b2 be able to get Assassin ‘21 + Assassin ‘22?

Arabesque b1 probably would; b2 would not.

The curse of b2. Or b1 depending on which one you're holding.

I have b2, so I'll likely hold on to it.

Sometimes b2 can be more coveted than b1 (ex. BBT), but you're right... not often.

Seems in general like Assassin has gone up in value over the years after taking a brief dip. '12, '13, '14 all trading super high, then starting to dip with '16, bottoming out with '18, before starting to rise back up with '19 and ending up where it is now.

Anyone have an approximate $ value on Trillium Double Barrel Tiramisu, regular BA Tiramisu and BA Vanilla Truffle? Thanks in advance.

@Clarkvv At this point those should probably trade close to $4$ with other pastry stouts from most reputable breweries. The double barrel may hold more value though.

The common reason for those rare cases is due to the taste of the beer though. BBT1 was pretty bad compared to BBT2, and '18 Assassin is known to be the worst Assassin.

Not trying to give too much credence to Untappd, but the ratings reflect this too. With BBT1 being rated much lower than all other BBTs. And '18 Assassin being the lowest as well. Since Arabesque b2 is rating lower than b1, don't think this will ever be the case.

This is true, I agree. Arabesque b1 is 4.75, whereas b2 is 4.69. Clearly b2 is a terrible beer by comparison. :stuck_out_tongue: All joking aside, I never had either Arabesque and I’m more than ever a bigger barleywine fan. I would have only been willing to let the bottle go for the two Assassin vintages (together) which I haven’t had yet.

Sometimes reading this shit gives me a headache. Not any fault of yours. I just find the way beers are valued to be completely asinine. Much in the way you do according to the first sentence of your response. Most of the time the explanation is a very Joe Dirt-esque “It just is.” My feeble lizard brain has never been able to comprehend nor appreciate this argument but such is life. Cheers and good luck landing your bottles even though the beer you have is .6 of a point shy of being worth it.

I get it. It is what it is. I use to get worked up over trade valuez. Back in the day I’d have gone ballistic if someone told me Double Barrel Assassin is trading for $1000. My first thought be ‘why?!!’ Followed by whoever is paying a $1000 for that bottle needs to get their head examined. But regarding the Arabesque b2, I’ll either trade it for exactly what I want or I’ll be happy keeping it also.

I don’t know how b2 is compared to b1 and I only had 2 oz of b1 but as someone whose had both those assassins if it’s even comparable to b1 I’d drink b2 arabesque all day and feel great about my decision. B1 was a top tier BW for sure.

This is exactly why I'm so hesitant to buy or trade for some of the top tier ba stouts. I still recall trying 2021 Assassin on tap and my immediate reaction was "what am I missing?". Don't get me wrong, it was a good beer, but it didn't cause me to have an epiphany. I tried it side by side with three other ba stouts, and at least to my palate, it was the least impressive beer I sampled.

But just as you stated, it is what it is. For whatever reason, a lot of people feel it's all that and a bag of chips, and they're willing to trade the moon for it. All the more reason to be very careful when trading for a top rated beer, and to carefully consider your reasons for trying to make the trade.
