Nelson DDC is awesome. Had bought a single can but stopped by shop again to grab a 4 pack.

Does anyone know if they’re having guest taps for the big hugs party tonight?

This was a wonderful box to taste through. No losers here.

    2x4 > Cherry brandy (amazing aroma)>> sunken > vanilla > Og

every year I am let down by benthic vanilla. It’s good but perhaps I expect too much out of a straight vanilla variant

i’ve now had at least one each from the set and have enjoyed them all. i was actually surprised at how much i enjoyed the vanilla.

    for me:
    2x4
    Sunken Ghost
    Vanilla
    Regular
    Cherry Brandy

Benthic found in the wild downstate today. Finishing my first can now. Every year it's a stellar showing and this year is no different. $54.99/4 pack price tag hurts a bit, but when I think of it in terms of a $27.50 bomber, I've bought WAY dumber shit for way more in my life.

EDIT: Benthic has more barrel presence than previous years. Anyone else picking up on that?

Nope, absolutely none I could discern. The Ghost Ship or whatever had a slight bit of barrel, but none on any other variant or the original.

FWIW the barrel is most of what I get from this beer, some coffee and feels like less coconut than previous year. I don't think I can tell that there's much coconut in there at all - really reminds me of Coconut Deth. I remember coconut being faint last year, but this year it's kind of MIA.

Welp, the can I had last night did. So your #trashpalate can suck it.

Ok so that Nelson DDC was on point. Good switch up from the Other Half and Treehouse. Actually the zest reminds me of Root and Branch. I wish it would get out here in less than 3 plus weeks but that's not HA's fault. Definitely will buy the next DDC I see.

Me and three buddies did a share with benthic, sunken ghost, eunoia 8, eunoia 11, coconut medianoche, rum cocovan, space debris coconut/chocolate and cuppa coconut/cinnamon. All noted pronounced barrel in benthic and sunken ghost in comparison to the rest. I tried both benthic and sunken on their own and thought this but was nice having the other three confirm I wasn’t crazy.

My palate was trash long before COVID. Put some (anti-) respect on my name.

Controversial opinion, but I don't see the hype in Nelson DDC. Maybe I got a bad can, idk. It's a nice easy drinking NEIPA, but with seemingly old school hop loads and not as much hop brightness as Hallow or the likes of the better beers from HB or P3.

It might be just us two but I was not a fan of this release either. I found this beer to be muddled from a flavor perspective. Likely my least favorite of the DDC hop variants (fwiw this can listed Falconer's Flight as a hop as well) of the ones I've tried, which is surprising to me as I do enjoy Nelson Sauvin hops. I do not recall having this beer when they first released it in 2021 for comparison.

Is there a reason Half Acre packaged Benthic as a 4 pack? $55 a 4 pack at retail is crazy. I would think 2 packs for $28 would move much better but what do I know

was thinking about this earlier this week as i noticed a benthic 4pk at binny’s … pretty tough sell when it’s a couple spots down from the rev 4pks at like half the cost. i know it’s not the same adjuncts but just comparing a BA 4pk of 12oz cans to each other.

    I'm in this demographic.

I'll never buy it as a 4 pack at that price point, but I would buy a 2 pack.

Is that because you don’t want 4 of them, you don’t know if you want 4 of them without trying it first, or because it’s too much to stomach at a 4-pack price, but it’s acceptable as a 2-pack at the same $/oz?

I bought a 4 pack but only part of the 12 packs with variants. At $13 per 12 oz, I probably don’t want more than 2 cans of anything other than my all time favorite beers
