    Yay, it's Friday again, and the penultimate one before Christmas to boot.

    And dare I say it, but TGIF because this week has seen record low temperatures in my part of the world, getting down to -5.1C in the alpine areas of the state. We're more than two weeks into summer and I type this wearing a fleecy, lined jacket. I've just been at the local baseball and apart from the odd lunatic in shorts, everyone there was rugged up and some even sat under blankets. The good news is the weekend is meant to bring mild - not hot, but mild - temperatures hereabouts, and anything above bloody cold will be a welcome relief. Hence the TGIF.

    The cold hasn't stopped the beer, though, and tonight's is an exceptional session ale by Brewdog, and love them or hate them, there's no denying this is a damn good beer. That pony would be frozen in place and fit for burying once the ground has thawed, but until then, it's cheers, tiny dead horse!

    look: 4 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 3.75 | feel: 4 | overall: 3.75

    Nice medium to dark amber body, somewhat cloudy; thick, frothy and creamy head, light khaki colored; sticky rings and patches of foam cling to the glass. Muted smell; hint of rich malt sweetness; caramel; vague holiday spiciness, cinnamon and ginger come to miind. Rich, malt-forward flavor; caramel; a bit of vanilla and roasted nuts. Medium-heavy body; dense, velvety residual sugar mouthfeel; mild overall warmth.

    A pleasant, malt-forward winter warmer that complements a cold, late Fall morning (current outside temperature is 8 °F at the time of this review).

    Good day BAs! Thanks @AzfromOz for starting today's thread - sorry about your cold weather - it's 36 F/2 C here and it has rained earlier although we've got a snow front heading in from Ohio. Overall, we can't complain about this year's weather, although our worst weather occurs after the New Year.

    I have vague recollections of drinking one of these about ten years ago, before i developed a taste for RIS. Thanks Craig - very pleasing RIS! Rating 4.26, rDev 0%.

    I knew it could be found in the US, but probably a bit overpriced and steep there. $6 a bottle roughly?

    The snow has stopped, but the wind is still at 30 mph, so I'm not shoveling out yet. Looks like we got 12" or so along with 15°. It's a chilly day.

    Happy Friday BA's - Emma and I got our usual hike in this morning, despite the cool temps and overcast skies

    This is hitting the spot - 2021 Anchor OSA and matching glass to boot (which I just got recently, as it was not available online last year!)

    More domestic IPA, this one is a hop bomb. Smell bubble gum, peculiar enough not detectable in the taste, which just is much hops and malt, on the good side.

    I suspect this is an unfiltered ale based on the appearance (late note: per the brewery's web site, it is unfiltered and unpasteurized and is called 'Noël' and described as a Christmas ale). It looks and tastes fantastic and has a sort of rustic quality about it, very old-world in character.

    Hello friends. Thanks @AzfromOz for opening the gates of 3709 BeerAdvocate Blvd. I'm not sure if yesterday even existed. Looked out this morn and I swear all the snow I moved is back. Like I did nothing. 36 hrs non stop snow. Rinse & repeat. Feck it. Just do it again. Uhg. This beer is really fine and if it were readily availible I'd be hoisting it frequently. Beachwood Hayabusa Lager. Fantastic. Keep on smiling! Cheers!
