I got a little bit overexcited when I got back into craft beers and got everything good I could get my hands on! The issue in Canada is that the LCBO is where you get the unique stuff and it’s the only store, so they’ll often stock something cool but only for a little while before never getting it again and deleting it off the website. Unlike the US where there are so many options and stores and you can import stuff, you can’t in Canada so I might have… over purchased tons of beers because I never know if it’s coming back! A single store in all of Ontario had 10 bottles of Aventinus Eisbock, and I bought 5 lol. It was really good so it’s hard to blame me right?

I have about 50 or so ‘active’ beers (that are next in line to be drunk!) in the fridge, I always keep it to only one single beer of that label and keep the other ones cellared. I have 56 cellared beers on hand currently. Probably around 30 of those or so are ones that could benefit from good cellaring (unfiltered beers like Tripels, Quadrupels, a lot of Krieks, Lambics, Geuze, strong high abv% porters and stouts) and the other 26 are IPAs, wheat beers, Pilsners and the like that came in multi-packs or that I bought extra of and should drink while they’re still fresh.

(Cellaring/storing the beers is my hardest obstacle! I have some very rare Pale Ales, IPAs, and even Belgian/German beers that I only have one or two of, and I know drinking them fresh is ideal, but once I do they’re gone for good! None left at the LCBO and no importing more. I know beer is meant to be consumed, but I always have to get over that initial sadness factor of knowing when I drink a beer I love, it might be the last time for a very, very long time!)

I have 2 ba stouts and 1 ba barleywine, I don’t generally cellar beer. For the most part, when a brewery decides to pull a beer from the barrels, that’s what I want to taste.

Right now I probably average between 90 and 120. This is down from 400-450 a couple of years ago.

Roughly 400 bottles. About 100-750ml and 50-375ml of lambics and gueze. I need patience, I like them with at least 7 or 8 years on them. Maybe 50 big bottles of odds and ends including a few 1.5 liter btls. 200-small bottles including various Hair of the Dog, Struise, Bigfoot, etc. I do seek out the limited and one-off beers. I very rarely spend more than about $30 for a bomber or 750ml. I do like the big bottles for sharing.

Ugh. I was actually doing pretty well and then picked up my order / stash at Barreled Souls....immediately adding 55 bottles of stouts and barleywines...ive got 10 days to decrease what Ive got.
I should at least go re-count everything. Will check back in a bit with an update
Spoiler alert! Im not expecting 125!! :confounded:

That's the problem. It is aging too well. I think we've all been there.

Well @BigIronH , ive failed. I have 277 beers on hand now. Dang it.

I did reduce my fridge stash to 46, but expanded elsewhere. It was actually 60 bottles from Barreled Souls....

I was certain I was doing better, and then colder weather and imperial stouts happen and i cant help myself..

    Oh well Cellaruary looms closer!!

Damn I forgot about this thread, thanks @BigIronH for reviving this and reminding me I have WAY too much beer at the moment. Currently sitting at a whooping 150 fridge and 24 cellar. Goddamn

That’s a good number. I don’t typically “cellar” anything in technical terms. I have some beers in my fridge that stick around for a couple months or up to a year but I generally consider anything in there something I could drink on any given day. So I favor that ratio.

Short answer is too many. I've been working thru them but it's super slow.

Another year and Im going the wrong direction.
    Dec 21 2022 I had 277 beers total

Today Dec 19 2023 I am at 315 beers total.

Only 105 or so are still here from last year.

So a lot have been consumed, but Ive brought in too many replacements.
I blame BIFs and @snaotheus in particular. Buried me in pacific NW treats!

This thread is like my own personal time capsule.

Have about 14 beers in my 'cellar' currently. While I enjoy a great cellared beer, I find it difficult to drink them..EVER! I am making a NY resolution to drink my cellar down to no more than 6....

I have about 60 or so now. Had about 180 at beginning of the year. Goal was to drink them all by End Of Year, but i did just add 24 buying a case of Willetized 2 days ago...down to 18 as of now. about 20 are going out to BAs im small trades and by the time those boxes are sent/received i hope to be down to 5 or so.

the ones i plan to keep :
Cantillon , Lost Abbey DDG, 2014 and 15 §ucaba and 2015 Stone IRS . Drinking the §ucabas and Stone at the 10yr mark and i hope to be done with beer by then. (:poop::skull::popcorn:)
