    In my opinion, YES.

Firestone Walker has a world class Barrel Program and PARABAJAVA shows it.

I can get Three Floyds but not Firestone. With a steady stream of Jackie O's here too, I’m not complaining. Whales for another day,

one of the reasons i am giving FW their due. So much talk from midwest people on here supporting Rev and the West forums pretty quiet in comparison ( just look at the Rev thread compared to FW) , but i blame that on our awesome weather. we're too busy outside doing awesome stuff in California :sunglasses:

Edit : with 3f and Jackie Os you dont really need anything else!

i can always send ya some FW if ya want

Ralphius is a good idea @FBarber , I having a two year double barrel Penns Woods Merlot and bourbon. Glad you liked yours!

I think this is two different barrels blended rather than a true double barrel, not sure though. Regular BA Ralphius dominates here. The wine is a very nice, faint accent throughout asserting itself just a bit more at the long finish along where it is joined by a nice oaky char. I'm really liking this one.

bringing something back to this thread tonight, will have more over the next several days I think.
American Solera Brewing Papua New Guinea Imperial Stout. Aged in Bourbon Barrels, 13% abv

    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 1 pint 9fl oz bottle poured into my snifter. Ive had the bottle in my cellar for about a year. Part of my BIF NFL 33 winnings last season.
The beer pours a black coffee color and no light passes through my glass. A dense creamy tan head foams up about 0.3 cm and fades to a thin but sturdy edge layer quickly after the pour. Im surprised to learn that the bottle is green after the beer is in my glass.
The aroma on this beer is a little muted, which surprises me. I do get some dark chocolate , roasted malts, and a good bit of ground coffee. There are wisps of vanilla in the background but it is certainly not dominant. No hop profile and the abv is well hidden.
First sip reveals a medium to full body with smooth texture and very, very fine carbonation that is actually kind of prickly. Beer does leave a bit of a sticky feel on my lips and palate after each swallow.
Flavor is roasted malt and dark chocolate, hints of bourbon and vanilla move in and the vanilla lingers a bit after the swallow. No real hop notes and ABV hidden once again. Pretty dangerous at 13%.
This flavor profile and nose opens up more bourbon as I sip this one. Decent imperial stout.

I just enjoyed a local ba stout that was a blend of Bourbon barrel and red wine barrel and I really liked it for the same reasons you listed

Checking out the Anchorage hype. So much fresh coffee in this it’s crazy. It smells like a bag of coffee grounds. Really good stuff. I can’t believe this costs $50 because now I want more

Bourbon County Double Barrel Toasted Barrel Stout. Comes in at 16% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with a very thin layer of brown head. The nose is full of roasted malts, black licorice, burnt toffee, alcohol heat, tar, oak, molasses, very dark chocolate, and a hint of cherries. Really nice and intense on the nose.

The taste is pretty amazing. VERY different from the regular BCBS, which is always a worry with some of the special stouts. This one is full of dark roasted malts, chocolate, huge boozy bourbon flavors, burnt toffee, raisins, prunes, molasses, sesame seeds, oak, and some black licorice (although less than predicted based on the nose). Very intense all around.

The mouthfeel is pretty thick and viscous, with a significant alcohol burn on the way down. I wonder what another year would do for this beer. The aftertaste is primarily burnt toffee and bourbon. Overall, a fantastic special release.

This is the best iteration of Bourbon County Coffee that I have had. It is delicious.

In the past, my biggest complaint has been how acidic the coffee was that they used- this one uses a much more earthy coffee and it goes so well with the underlying stout. A great reminder of how elite BCBS and its variants remain even after all these years.

I am pretty sure those caps started out as a favor to grocery that did mix 6 packs so they could easily tell when someone was trying to F them over by adding these big beers to a mix six.

    Need to double check now.

Edit-I just did a search and got this…..

When we started making World Wide Stout, we sold it in 12-ounce bottles as singles because we couldn’t afford new packaging. We had cardboard boxes that we tied strings to before sending it out. We charged $100 for a case of this 17% beer.

What was happening at retail was the online beer community had started to exist and gave brewers and beer lovers a place to connect. Nationally, World Wide Stout started getting this following, but the retailers didn’t really know what they had in their stores as well as craft beer lovers did. Some intrepid (but unethical) craft beer lovers were going into stores, emptying the Chicory Stout six-pack, and filling it with World Wide Stout. Then, they’d scan the UPC and get charged $10 for $60 worth of beer.

So, we started putting this really bright ‘CAUTION’ cap on the top of the World Wides for two reasons: to tell the consumers ‘Buckle up and get ready for a journey’ but also so that retailers could see if the six-pack at the checkout line had the yellow caps, which meant something rotten was going on.”

    Enjoy
