    Ghost World from Crooked Stave. Sent by @beergoot in BIF 16. This is a blended imperial stout, with 50% imperial stout, 35% BBA imperial stout in Heaven Hill barrels, and 15% BBA imperial stout in Angel's Envy barrels.

    Poured at fridge temp, but allowed to warm over a little bit. Pours motor oil black with pretty much zero head. The nose is excellent. Tons of chocolate, bourbon, big roasted malts, some black licorice, some molasses, and a touch of charred wood. A bit of tobacco starts to come through.

    The taste is fantastic. This is totally dominated by roasted malts and charred wood. This is quite different than most big bourbon barrel-aged stouts these days as the base stout clearly remains dominant on this brew. Black licorice, molasses, coffee grounds, vanilla, toasted coconut, chocolate, and some dark fruit - mostly cherries, raisins, and prunes. There is a red wine taste that comes out over time. In fact, it almost becomes dominant over time. Really interesting how the taste can evolve over 10-15 minutes.

    Mouthfeel is thick and creamy. Overall, a really nice BA stout.

    Hippy Sippy Stout from Fat Head’s. 9.3% no shenanigans American Stout (and all that entails) with good char and a light balancing hop. Been at the brewery for years, but first time canning. Cheers!

    I still owe a box out to @BigIronH but he said I could crack one with a review. Odd Side BA Dark of Night. No joke. So black it blocks out the lettering on my glass. A vibrant dark cola head crackles like fireworks for about ten seconds, then fades to a still black lake. Lacing on the side instantly dries like brown glue. Nose is earthy, almost a peat aroma. First sips bring a load of rye, similar to the Willitized I had last night. That earthy aroma carries to the tongue, combined with extraordinarily dark malts in the base. Barrel wood comes across wet, with a clear drying effect in the end. Alcohol doesn’t bite, but brings much warming only a few sips in. As the temp warms, the hops come around to butter the tongue a little. Definitely a tasty, heavy sipper for this active blizzard weather.
