[IMG] Trying an OddSide 11th anniversary. A year and half has mellowed the jet fuel that typically comes out of a 17.7% beer. All coconut and dark chocolate now with a touch of dark black coffee. Cheers all!

Im rollin up in here with a late entrant, after the gifts are wrapped, the Sully needs to recharge. SO, Barreled Souls Blackberry Jam Stay Puft it is! Definitely some adjuncts, additives, adjunks, etc added to this beer. its 12% and features marshmallow fluff, and blackberry jam.
Merry Christmas you bunch of big dark beer loving filthy animals!

    onto my review:
Im sampling a cellar temp 500 ml bottle poured into a snifter. Beer was bottled 5/05/2022 and I picked it up at the brewery in October earlier this year. Bottle was refrigerated at the brewery and in my cellar since.
The beer pours a rich black coffee color with a dense fluffy head of almost 3 cm foaming up. Almost over tops the glass, but clings on the edge. The foam gradually fades to a sturdy surface covering that sticks around through the tasting.
I also get dense coating lattice when I swirl the glass or take a sip.
Aroma is hot cocoa chocolate powder and some light sweetness. This mixes with mild blackberry notes, but smells sweet, not tart like some blackberries can be. No hop character and not boozy on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium body with very creamy and smooth texture. Features fine and tingly carbonation that is fairly gentle overall. Feels nice and easy drinking for a larger ABV beer.
Flavor is milk chocolate, some roasted malt, general sweet notes and a bit of blackberry in the background. Chocolate notes dominate and I kinda wish the blackberry was a little bolder, but the general sweetness could be some of the jam impacts. No hop character and the ABV is well hidden.
Pretty easy drinking imperial stout, i think Id prefer the base stay puft over this one. Not because this is bad, but the blackberry doesnt carry as much as I had hoped. The base beer doesnt build up my expectation for the blackberry.
    3.9 in the BA DB

Christmas Eve nightcap of the good stuff...a fesh 2022 bottle of Free Will Brewing's Coffee Ralphius. Aged a year in various bourbon barrels with coffee from the local roaster Speakeasy Coffee.

Tons of espresso layered on top of vanilla, caramel, oak, dark chocolate. Great balance. The 14% abv booze is well hidden. Top notch mouthfeel - full bodied and slick.

Been on a stout tear this this season. Santa's Little Helper from Port Brewing followed by the illustrious Willetized from Lagunitas.

We'll see if I'm up for another after this, I may reach for a Parabola. Or a BA Rasputin. Or maybe just a Reggie Rasputin

Shiit I went with round two of Willetized and I'm finishing with an ill advised night cap of regular Rasputin (my 6 year old is well aware of the expected social protocol tomorrow, and his 3 year old sister is a dutiful minion). I think this is the freshest ol raspy I've had in a while, bottled 10/28, and damn is this a standout brew this fresh. There's this fruity hop character that just takes it to this whole other level.

Sometimes I think about going back and re reviewing Rasputin. It's my only 5 and it was rated early in my journey and it's a sentimental part of my beer journey. But then, other times, I drink and I wonder "can a RIS actually get better than this?"

Hopefully that creep Santa can fit down the chimney of our wood stove and I can share one with him after a long ass night.

    Old Rasputin is a 5.
I haven't had one in a while, but had a BBA Raspy not long ago.
No stouts for me today and prolly not tomorrow, gonna wait for this rona to go away.
Till then its bourbon and beers i dont care about (like barleywines or IPAs)

PS : You're a madman for knocking down TWO Willetized and a Raspy!

I bet this has notes of delicately charred fishnet stocking, luscious curves of dark chocolate with a soft glow of roasted malt, and is as smooth as a freshly waxed Italian leg.

Started things off with a Santa's Little Helper too. Drinking coffee stouts and doing my thing in the kitchen after the kids go to bed is about as wild as I get these days. But we'll have fresh tortillas for Christmas dinner tonight.

Imperial Milk Stout aged for 16 months in a Willett Rye barrel then rested on Colombia La Virgen coffee roasted by Sump Coffee. Named after Rio Oibita in Colombia, this barrel was one of our favorites!

Waxed and capped bomber poured into a stemless wine glass

Dark cola brown liquid, thin fizzy brown foam layer quickly evaporates to a thin ring

Aroma is bourbon, whisky , brown sugar,
    Coffee

Taste is sweet, bourbon , sweet, hint of coffee,

Mouthfeel is boozy without the heat, thin , light body , abv is well hidden

    Good beer

A nice dark brown pour, a good tan head that leaves a nicely laced glass. A "woody" aroma with a hint of chocolate, brown sugar and caramel, taste buds get that plus a hint of whiskey. It seems thin for the style, but so does the base beer. To me Old Rasputin is the beer I measure all others by, and this was a bit disappointing.
