    Hello everyone,

Recently moved to Bend from Texas. Will be looking for trades from my favorite breweries in Texas, Weathered Souls brewing in San Antonio and Ingenious Brewing in Houston.

Why look for trades from your old favorites when you live in Bend where you have a great beer culture in your new surroundings? If you don't already have a pipeline in place to get your old favorite beers from someone in Texas, then you need to head on over to the Trading forum and get set up to establish your 'lifeline' until you find new favorites in Bend (which I'm confident you easily will).

Welcome to the BA site. Take the time to explore this place to discover the features that interest you the most.

I do have some favorites already here in Bend. However I do miss Weathered Souls

I hear you, though over time I suspect you'll want to do less and less trading. It's an expensive hobby, and as @PapaGoose03 pointed out, you're now living in an area with an outstanding, well established beer culture. I know it's hard to replace old favorites, but I think over time you'll find local breweries in the Bend area and NW that will satisfy any current beer craving you may have

If you check out the West regional forum, you'll find all kinds of interesting and useful information concerning the beer scene in Bend. There are also several active members from that area... @sharpski in particular is an especially active and helpful member from the area.

Otherwise, welcome to the site and enjoy your time here.

Hi Raul, welcome to Bend! If you’re interested in tapping into the local beer community or talking about how OR breweries match up to what you miss about TX breweries, don’t hesitate to reach out. Cheers!

    hello!

My main challenge is to find local breweries with a good variety of stouts and fruited sours. So far I would say Great Notion goes more with the kind of beer that I really enjoy.

I'll defer to @sharpski's expertise and experience in this area, but for sours, I would recommend at least checking out Ale Apothecary.

A lot of places do pretty decent stouts in Bend, though I would also recommend that you give "the lovely" cherry flavored porter from Bend Brewing a try. Also, give Deschutes a try for imperial stouts and porters as well.

Welcome to Bend, be prepared to be force fed hops. (I am an anti-IPA grump).

I'm totally unfamiliar with the beer scene in Texas so look forward to hearing your impressions about the differences.

Bend Brewing also makes a very good fruited sour called Ching Ching. It was the first sour that I liked and I highly recommend it. Crux Fermentation makes some very good sours/wild ales too.

You perfectly described how I feel about being forced fed hops. I can enjoy a good hazy but some breweries will have 10 beers and 8 are IPAs

No doubt about it. Folks in the NW like their hops. So understandably most breweries produce a number of options that cater to that predisposition.

I tend to feel that they also produce plenty of other options, but others may feel differently.
