I was excited to see Face Hugger in the cooler at my local today, as in my experience NEBCO’s distro in Mass is/was very limited.

Big, big dinner has made me stuffed and I’ve been drinking water and club soda since and finally drinking some good stuff again. Little Fire by TH. Crisp with just a touch of lemony smoke.

I thought the pale beer reinforced my interest in the brewery. Wonderful music:

Interesting that some tastes are completely messed up while others are intact if not better. This one tastes really nice.

Victory - Dark Thunder Storm King. I wouldn't have bought this myself since it has coconut, but a friend brought this over to a holiday get together we had and so a few cans left in my fridge. I would prefer the original recipe, but the coconut isn't too prominent, and the coffee comes out more as it warms.

I went to Barrington Brewery in Great Barrington today because they said they had an English Strong Ale (Old Pluto) on cask. I love cask beers and English beers, so hell yeah, let's go.

I get there and I receive this:

I'm 99% sure it was on nitro, and not a cask. I didn't see them pour it, but it definitely had a Guinness thing going on and had the ultra creamy nitro mouthfeel.

Fall - Coffee Stout - Maine Beer Co.

Wow am I tempted to post this is the soon to launch “Non-Adjuncted Imperial Stout Appreciation thread.” Just to give them a twist.

At a whopping 5.6% abv, one doesn’t even notice any alcohol. The black coffee comes through after it warms. I’m really digging this one and happy to know there is more waiting for me.

Im sampling Mythical Czar Imperial Stout from Phantom Brewing in Hartford, Connecticut tonight. This is an 11.5% imperial stout with no additives, adjuncts etc. Cross posted with the Imperial Stout Appreciation thread.
Had this one in my cellar for a few months, and tonight seems to be a good night to drink it.

    onto my review:

Sampling a 16 oz can at cellar temp and poured into a snifter. Date stamp only says "na zodrovya", not helpful with freshness.
My label also has 11.5% as ABV not the 9.9% listed here. I picked up the cans at the brewery in September of 2022 after a Hartford Athletic game.
The beer pours a jet black coffee color with no light passing through the glass. A brown slightly frothy yet dense head of 2.5 cm foams up. This foam fades to a sturdy surface layer and one large wispy island. This remains through sampling.
Aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, some coffee grounds and a bit of anice. No hop character nor booze hints on the nose. Pretty straight forward imp stout profile.
First sip reveals a medium to lighter body than expected, with very fine tingly carbonation. Texture is smooth and doesnt coat or leave sticky residue on palate.
Flavor is roasted malts and dark chocolate, almost a charred wood note. Hints of molasses, but this is not a sweet beer profile. ABV is hidden and there isnt any real hop notes on the flavor profile either.
This is a bit of an old school, no additives imperial stout, that has good flavor and aroma. The body could be a little thicker, but in general, I like this one.
