I think this qualifies as an imperial stout. It is world class, IMHO.

I look forward to contributing to the 2023 version of this thread, along with the barleywine thread! I will be starting another one that I'm really excited about - more to come tomorrow.

Right now it's Coconut Deth from Revolution. Thanks to @JayORear for sending this over in a recent trade!

2022 can. Poured at fridge temp. Pours pitch black with a small amount of light brown head. The nose is fantastic. Coconut, chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, toffee, a touch of cinnamon, and brown sugar.

The taste is great. Roasted malts, gingerbread, cinnamon, brown sugar, toffee, bourbon, vanilla, and coconut. Lovely! The mouthfeel is thick and creamy. The aftertaste is mostly toffee and bourbon, although the ABV is barely noticeable. Really glad I got to try this!

Tavour seems to push these guys a lot. Honestly have been pretty underwhelmed with their stuff.

2 hours in and Ive only gotten down 2oz of my FW Glencairn ... now that it's at room temp its an awesome beer.
Nose is all Espresso, Dark Chocolate and a subtle vanilla .
The taste is the kinda stuff i like . Bold Espresso,90% Dark Chocolate, Caramel and dark malts backed up by some vanilla . Alcohol isn't overpowering for such High ABV
    Would bang again.

There was some buzz about their barrel program when it launched because they were an ipa darling at the time (owner/brewer was the head Brewer at Knee Deep back when they made their mark on the west coast hop scene). I wasn't even aware they were still doing the barrel thing as they appear to have abandoned my area. Their flagship IPA and DIPA are absolute standouts when fresh

Their 22oz bottles are $28-$32 on Tavour and I would gladly spend $38 on a 500ml BCBS reserve that may or may not taste much better than the base. I have another on the way unfortunately. I bought it before the two I had in my previous box came. I figured they had to be pretty good. Wrong.

That sucks to hear. I had a bottle a couple years ago and thought it was decent, but not worth the cost.

I initially interpreted that first post as you having been hit hard by Covid. The second post made me wonder, "Tiny cuts all over from Covid?... there's something else going on." Looked at your posts in other threads and realized you were being literal about the truck. Wishing you and your family health and a happy new year.

Saying goodbye to 2022 with some fine beer and tunes.

    Coconut Phones
    - Barreled Souls

WOW! The room darkened when this beer was poured. A razor thin golden-brown halo is the only light that passes. The coconut and cinnamon are very nicely integrated into the base stout. Everything has a toasted flavor, with the malt being the sole charred element. Black coffee is a base tone, ever president, never forefront. Bitterness is 2-1 over sweetness. Dense body, not syrupy. Alcohol has a light and pleasant burn, just short of distracting. The base stout sings boldly. The adjuncts add depth like the E Street Band to Springsteen’s distinctive vocals.

Here’s to a speedy recovery @Resistance88, and a new year worth exploring!

Maybe not the best song pairing, but DEFINITELY one of Springsteen’s best. There are better live versions too. Like this one!

Brewers notes: A blended barrel aged Imperial Stout. Three unique stout recipes in three unique casks - aged for 15 months in a Willett Rye, 16 months in a Four Roses OESK, 14 months in a Russel Reserve @woodlandwine pick and then blended to perfection. Swirls of crème brûlée, peanut butter s’mores, vanilla, and sticky bread pudding tantalize the tastebuds with every sip.

What is a Dyson Sphere? A Dyson sphere is a hypothetical megastructure that completely encompasses a star and captures a large percentage of its solar power output. The concept is a thought experiment that attempts to explain how a spacefaring civilization would meet its energy requirements once those requirements exceed what can be generated from the home planet's resources alone. Because only a tiny fraction of a star's energy emissions reaches the surface of any orbiting planet, building structures encircling a star would enable a civilization to harvest far more energy.

Poured into a snifter, dark cola brown liquid with a thin brown creamy foam cap , settles to a. Ring

Aroma is bourbon, roast malts, brown sugar , toffee,

Taste is roast malts, dark fruits, figs, raisins, brown sugar, toffee, no char

Smooth and genteel, the 10.1 abv is very will hidden, thick , velvety

    Good beer
