    Happy new year. You have the blessing of enough money to buy nice steak and stout, so that’s a good start. DM and I’ll send some stout :slight_smile:

    Starting Lite tonight and this beer tastes great, and may be less filling (my wife just rolled her eyes).... For some reason it's important for her (which means me too) to stay awake until midnight, i've never ask why and tonight I'm not planning on asking either. Hope everyone has a great, safe new years eve!

    Prairie Chocolate Noir BA Imp Stout. I will probably need to start dialing back the ABV if I wish to stay awake for both games

    Here's a little IPA to begin the evening. Want to keep things between the lines.... I heard about Jorge Drexler on NPR the other day and was fascinated. If you listen to one of these tunes you'll listen to them all (four, I think). It is a fabulous multi-cultural mish mash with a great front man-Jorge Drexler. I hope 2023 is more perfect than the last few years!
    Cheers all!

    Behind the Times, a Dunkel Rauchbier from Tree House that is somehow less than the sum of its parts.

    [IMG] Another IPA courtesy of the California IPA monk, @2beerdogs. Much appreciated my bro. Happy new year all. Here’s to a year of happiness, health, and well being. We all struggle with each of these aspects from time to time but it’s what makes us human. I hope whoever is reading this can take a moment to realize that I’m just like you, and I’m here for you. Cheers.

    ...it's an old school sort of place, yet its faux-Bavarian architecture and beer stylings certainly appeal to me...'Man Beer' has been a - somewhat - staple of mine and, when available, finds itself in some of my beer trade packages...

    First beer of the day (hard to believe, I know :smile:). Figured this would be the perfect starter being it's New Year's Eve.

    Prost, VB! :heavymetal::nerd::beers: !!

    The Flying Monk, Belgian style Dubbel, from Flight Deck Brewing in Brunswick Maine (from a can bought recently).

    This is an absolutely outstanding Belgian style Dubbel, one of the best made in the U.S.

    Dubbels are hard to find. Probably both because they’re hard to make well, and also many people either don’t know about them or don’t cherish them like I do. A toast to any brewery willing to make a Dubbel. This is one of the best I’ve had.

    Appearance is dark amber, almost bordering on a strong dark.

    Smell is light. Subtle hints of malt and dried fruit.

    Taste is where it all comes together (as it should). Wonderful complex malts and dried fruits. Candied currants, cherries, raisins, but not overly sweet or overpowering. The complexities of the taste continue to unfold for several minutes after each sip.

    Feel is pleasantly on the heavier, slightly more viscous, honey-like side. The feel and taste lingers deliciously on the tongue.

    Overall a grand slam home run of a Dubbel. It’s perfect for a New Year’s Eve, or any cool/cold fall or winter day or night.

    I’ll definitely be visiting Flight Deck’s tasting room soon.

    Happy (hoppy?) New Year to all, a joyous, healthy, and hopeful new year filled with delicious fermentation experiences.
