Postimage spam/link issues

This is disappointing. I think I've been good about removing the embed. I've used other sites like Imgur, but none work as easily for me. Hmm.

 

This worked from Imgur, via the instructions from @LarryV . I’m using an iPad-9.

 

Let us know who's email we need to spam at Next Glass to get you the money. I suddenly have some extra free time on my hands.

To anyone who uses Imgur, here's a possible pro tip. In my pic above with the list of the available links to copy, the BBCode is said to be a short cut that eliminates using the Image dialogue box here on BA when posting a pic, and the BBCode supposedly can be inserted directly into a post. I haven't been able to change my habit of using the Direct Link along with the Image dialogue box to start using that method, thus I can't say for certain that this works. But to those who complain it's all too cumbersome to use Imgur, try this for a couple less steps in the process.

 

Edit: This looks like you just cut n paste the link into the forum instead of embedding in the image url tab?


There is a tiny little trick with the Imgur app on mobile I find....you have to open your image in a new window first basically and then copy the bb code post link (little right arrow icon now) and embed that into the image url tab here on BA. This is really difficult to explain without showing someone but let's say you just uploaded an image to Imgur and then immediately grab the share link, well it will not work here. You need to kind of double tap on the image and then grab the share url. Voila it's actually super easy once you get the feel...

 

I find it interesting that Untappd can let me load direct from my phone but not here on BA. I like to share photos but I am not using a laptop since I don’t have one right now. I won’t go out of my way to start using another site since post image works any other place I need to drop a photo. In my feeling BA needs to step up if it wants to stay relevant and not put this on us to find a work around. I don’t write code so I don’t know how easy or hard it would be but it is 2023 and some things are expected by consumers. I’m sure others will disagree but that’s my thoughts. If I can’t post photos here I will eventually get bored and just leave I would think. I want to stay though.

Have a happy and a healthy. I am off the alcohol this month and plan to cut back a bit as well. I averaged almost 1.5 beers a day more than the year before and that’s too much for my body and wallet. I will pull some things out for February cellar but don’t think photos will be part of that unfortunately. If things change let me know. I will lurk here and there but not much this month.

In the Imgur phone app (at least on Android version that I use), this is how you get the correct link to use the Image function in a forum post properly, screenshots of how I usually do it:

Once you pull up one of your uploaded images, do not use the share button on this first screenshot, the link won't work using the BA forum Image function. You need to click on the Image to get the link that has the ".jpg" file extension.


Then you'll see just the image without the file name, etc. Use the share button on this screen


Then select the "Copy URL" button

I understand Todd’s dilema. However, for what it’s worth, one of the reasons I practically quit posting on BA is having to use an image hosting site.

 

@Shanex Per Todd's post above, it sounds like anyone with Society membership will be able to upload images, so won't really need a photo service.

 

If you preview before you post won't you see anything unusal?
