    I
wanted to talk a bit about this movie, « Little Children » we recently watched because it was very good, disturbing, moving and well acted by Patrick Wilson, Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connelly.
I made the comparison with American Beauty but it’s even deeper, dark. Interesting.

    Hello Advocates,
I hope to slowly find flashes of right morale to be able to talk about beers again, after an unbridgeable family loss that we have suffered and that has made everything different.
This is an Italian Pils, which for some is not a style, because it doesn't have such characteristics in its own right compared to a classic Pils (if German or Bohemian they often don't know it).
Also, there are bounce sources and manuscript pages found in forgotten desk drawers… where dry hopping in Pils has been happening since ancient times…
Then they are the same ones who perhaps drink a beer based on grape must and call it "Grape Ale", because the BJCP indicates them, erroneously, as such.
Just for info, the beers that start from a base of grape must have been invented by the small and young Italian school, so even if you make the grape must for your beer with the grapes grown under your house, that it is an Italian Grape Ale, as it is a style invented and developed by this school.
Oh well, I haven't written in a while... now we can proceed:

MC 77 (Marche, ITA) - CRISPY BOI - Italian Pils (5%)

    33 cl can (€4.50)
On the label: "Date of packaging: 19/10/2022 - Best before: 19/07/2023
Loral hops are used in dry hopping.
Typical aroma of a classic Bohemian pils, as well as the color of a beautiful golden blond, topped by an abundant, long-lasting foam with a soft texture.
Entrance with malted part with references to bread crust and cereals in general, but everything is brief before the finish.
Much more bitter than a classic Pils.
Those typical herbaceous hints are missing, but I feel the bitterness much more decisive.
It also stays quite a bit on the tongue.
I appreciate that, but here's the variation on the classic reference style easily spotted.
Carbonation present, but I would have liked it slightly more lively. But slightly.
You feel the freshness in the ease of drinking.
I underline once again the decidedly bitter taste.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I hope these forums can offer you a bit of a distraction and perhaps even enjoyment through beer. Best wishes.

Just a quick, pre-run, UA NA "proof of life" post - just haven't been feeling up to a real beer in a couple of days. Probably just winter doldrums, but immune system a bit down, trying to grind out icy runs. Meh... need time.

I'll check in sooner or later with a real one. Have a great day. Cheers!

Just a tad late on this (hit the pillow EARLY last night). Anyway, two brews I brought back from recent trip to Begas: Big Dog Moon Dog barleywine and Big Dog Bark Bark peppermint stout. Both very tasty.

Little Children is definitely a creepy movie. Very faithful to Tom Perrotta's book.

I haven’t read the book, but the movie certainly was disturbing to downright creepy.

The « pervert » played by Jackie E. Harley was particularly creepy, though I eventually thought of him as a poor dude, glued to his mother etc.

I thought of American beauty because it takes place in what’s assumed the ideal American suburbs which isn’t the safe heaven some people assume it is.

    Oxbow - Luppolo Dry-hopped pils

Lingering bitterness and heightened aromatics are the two main features of this delicious pilsner.

How is that beer? I almost got one, but I tend to stray away from artificial flavorings. Does it taste like real raspberries or extract? I really liked their Barleywine.

This is from the brewer's description:

"Komes Porter Malinowy is a dark, bottom-fermented beer brewed with the addition of fruit juice and aged with "Bourbon" vanilla from Madagascar and Indian chili peppers. In the aroma and taste we will find chocolate notes and the sweetness of raspberry and vanilla broken with the spiciness of chili peppers.

"Thanks to the addition of raspberry juice and aging with exotic additives, Porter Bałtycki gained a new dimension."

It is very fruit forward, with a ton of real raspberry flavor. It also maintains its Baltic Porter character, with lots of roasted malt and char. I didn't detect any artificiality at all in the fruit flavor. As always, YMMV.
