    Good morning all,

I am drinking something I don’t have often, a Belgian strong pale ale I found again after it vanished for a while from the shelves. Cornet.

Great one, not as known as Duvel or Chouffe outside or Belgium I’d assume but worthy of a try, or two.

    Cheers!

Thanks @dcotom and @Shanex for opening todays thread. Sleep eludes me for a few hrs so I figured a drop or two is what the doctor ordered. Out of sight amounts of snowfall here as of late. A little bit crippling. My next task is to remove snow from the roof of our house. About 18+" on it so...it's time. And its beer time so I'll have a 2nd Blackstack Loud & Clear West Coast DDH DIPA. EZ drinkin' for 8.2% ABV and it makes the thought of future laborious tasks not so bad. Cheers all! Enjoy this brand new day!

    Howdy all!

@dcotom, they forgot Steve Adler on the 12 Drummers poster!

@Shanex, I had one of them late last year. A very nice drop indeed.

@LesDewitt4beer, be careful, I hear that snowploughs can be dangerous things, even when you're famous and therefore supposedly untouched by mortal concerns. Regardless, I'll take my blue sky over 18" of snow any day of the week!

Anyway, enough dissembling. Here's tonight's beer: Hawaiian Haze IPA by Ballistic Beer from up in Queensland. It's yet another hazy suffering from too much dry-hopped Mosaic which turns it into a mouthful of shampoo/menthol/eucalyptus/diesel/over-fermented pineapple!

    Cheers

Thanks for sharing not only the beer, but this blue sky you aptly mention, something we in the northern hemisphere direly need these days. Makes me travel and help put me in a lighter mood only thanks to this forum.

    Cheers!

A bit of a funny story about this one. I have a coworker who knows about my craft beer addiction so every time he goes home down South he graciously brings some local beer for me to try. So this time he gives me a six-pack of this. I refrain from telling him that this is a beer I can get down at my local store, because I am not an asshole (at least not usually). Knowing my obsession about keeping hoppy beer cold, he offers it to me cold and in an insulated bag. How sweet of him. However, being the beer nerd that I am, I immediately notice that this is canned in the summer of 2022, with a BBD of October, 2022. I'm trying not to giggle. It's like having a dead dog in your car, but making sure you leave the car windows cracked open when you leave it alone so that he doesn't suffocate.

I have to say though that even at 3 months after its BB date, this maintains a nice resinous quality and bitterness, showcasing how nice it must be when fresh. But in terms of aromatics, it is a malty and wet cardboard mess as expected.

Thanks to @dcotom for his yet again festive, seasonal, lead post.

That Deep Space hit me like a brick last night; started all boozy and vicious, and calmed down into a smoother experience as it warmed a bit.

Back to a usual NA/UA (sour!) this morning - about to bop outside for another chilly 8 miler.

Hope you and yours are all doing well; stay healthy.

    Cheers!

Hoping I can get more sleep after this one, and then wake up in time to get a much needed haircut before my first trip out West. This beer was bottled in Chicago, assuming it was brewed and barrel aged here as well.

I'm getting coffee with this bottle, been AWOL the previous bottles both this year and years ago. Digging it, hope they release these fresh this Fall. Perhaps they'll even get around to reopening the Chicago taproom, a great place to visit if you have time to visit the South Side, or have been bailed out of Cook County Jail.

I'm going with two of my favorite rock drummers to honor @dcotom 's 12th Day of Christmas post!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never knew Doritos were sold in France. About once a year I come across and buy Taco Flavor Doritos. Sadly they are not a regular variety, and I don't believe I've seen or enjoyed them since Spring or Summer. I notice their package size has shrunk looking for the photo below (10 1/2 oz down to 9 3/4).

I honestly couldn’t tell you since how long Doritos or Old El Paso, and the likes Tex-Mex or Mexican cuisine and food are being sold here, but only from my failing memory I remember eating some in the metro going to the cinema as a teenager with my cousin.

Me being a teenager dates back to the late 1990s (I know that’s young for some of you) but yeah, any Tacos, Fajitas, Mexican spices (jalapeños/Habaneros) are still quite popular here.

    Cheers.
