Imperial Stout Appreciation Thread (2023)

Well, yeah...I know. BUT, It is 12% ABV and aged in bourbon barrels. I think that Imperial Porters and high ABV (8%+) Baltic Porters are okay to post here.

If @Resistance88 doesn't like it, he's more than welcome to start an "IPA Appreciation Thread".

I’ve probably posted this one on this forum before, but oh, well! Brooklyn Brewery’s, Black OPS “ Imperial Stout aged in Four Roses Bourbon Barrels!

 

How is it tasting? No "off" flavors/sour-ish/tart cherries?

 

Hah! Funny you mention that. There was something not quite right about that one. I decided to give the 2022 Bourbon and Rye Barrel Aged “Only Void “ a go!

 

My 4pk was "infected". You should reach out and let them know. And they'll offer you a t-shirt.

Yeah, let me advertise for you guys, after having a bad experience with your beer. No thanks!

Most of the breweries can't/won't ship beer. But why can't they offer a Visa gift card? I don't want/need any random merchandise.

 

it’s probably an expensive 4pk too if it’s barrel-aged.

you would think they’d be for pulling it from their distribution networks too.

 

They sent me two really nice glasses along with the shirt which I wear proudly given their long, illustrious track record

 

Nope, it's the cheapest Barrel aged Stout out there.

Barreled Souls Brewing (Saco, Maine) - Just Here for the Churros. Picked this up at the brewery when we were in Maine on vacation a few months ago. I am a sucker for cinnamon in big stouts, and this one has very nice cinnamon and caramelized sugar flavor on top of nice dark chocolate and vanilla flavor. Full bodied, slick feel. Only moderately sweet.
