    Happy Wednesday, all!

It was indeed a happy Wednesday in the summer holiday of the AzfromOz clan. A reasonably mild day saw us head on a road trip to a place called Tilba, one of those small country towns that has been hippified and now boasts a main street with shops that offer tarot readings, expensive woodwork, hand-made icecream and sundry other mortgage sinks, but, most importantly, has two breweries in close proximity: the confusingly closely named Tilba Brewing Company and the Tilba Winery and Alehouse. The town of Tilba also boasts the Dromedary Hotel, the local brewery door of the Tilba Brewing Company, and which randomly had a large assortment of Stone beers in its fridge.

Time was spent at the Tilba Winery and Alehouse, which is situated ~5km out of town along a windy, eucalyptus-lined road, nestled amongst tall bushland and dripping with Australian county idyll. A visit to the local seals on the way home before a swim saw me finally retire to the deck to enjoy the views and a classic west coast IPA from Goodland Brewing in Victoria. The perfect end to an adventurous day.

    Cheers!

Thank you for sharing these wonderful shots! Tasty beers and lovely views. Sounds like you are enjoying yourselves out there. Makes me thirsty for a cold one but alas it's only 7:30am.

Greetings all and hoppy Wednesday, marking mid-week, hump day or whatever we want to call it.

Been a tad of a busy morning until now, did my work out early at the gym/fitness club, then had lunch with my mother which is relatively often as she lives in the neighboring town.

Drinking Crespin now, from Brasseurs de Gayant who are better known for their flagship “La Goudale” beer I often purchase:

Bière blonde says the label? 8%? From the taste I would call it a triple instead of a bière de garde, bit on the sweeter side, good.

This scene from Mars Attacks almost always has me in tears:

They're not really releasing the details of what the actual problem is - but you would think they would have some sort of redundancy in place to prevent something like this. Hard to comment on without more specific details.

Good day BAs! Thanks @AzfromOz for starting the thread and sharing shots from your summer vacation! Here it's 25 F (- 4 C) and cloudy, so no deciduous plants in bloom (bummer!) but also no snow (YAAAA!) Today's New Breakfast Beer is from @Whyteboar anf BIF #16:

If you're holding one of these, let it warm to 60 degrees F before you drink it - everything depends on the higher temperature to bring out the subtleties in flavor and appearance - delicious when warmer! Thanks, Craig, for this delicious brew! Rating 3.99, rDev -2.7%

that’s bad ass! does it work? the combination of the 2?

it’s crazy because last week while visiting my brother he asked if i ever threw a little beer in my mixed drinks, but i don’t drink many mixed drinks. he asked if i ever put a little guinness extra stout in my white russians, to which i said “no.” he said he’s been enjoying vodka sodas lately and will pour a little bit of rolling rock in them. anyways, very interesting to me. cheers!!

My answer might surprise you. It's delicious to me... but I like such things. It's not as strange as it might appear. In Europe (particularly France), there is a custom of adding bitter liqueur to beer. This is most famously done with a more citrus leaning liqueur than a herbal one though - Picon Biere. Have you had this @Shanex ? Amer Picon was (or still is?) famously unavailable in the US amongst cocktail enthusiasts, and people always looked for substitutes. I had beer served like this in southern France. The other day I realized that I've never had Jager (which you can consider a cousin of typically used spirits) in a beer, and I knew I needed to try it. I would think that normally such a thing would be served in a US bar like a boilermaker with a depth charge. I considered my drink today as an average US bar spin on a Picon Biere. :beers:
