La Fosse b3 was a long time ago. This is b4(2023).

except they’re calling it “La Fosse 2022” due to the apricot crop* being 2022 (just like Fuzzy 2022).

    *harvest?

Call it whatever you want. It's the 4th time it's been released and it was released in 2023.

they need to just include bottling dates on their labels! i get tired of checking my notes to see when a bottle i’ve been cellaring is from.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was always one naming method and it had never changed, but the labeling/naming has/does change.

I agree. Throw on a bottling (labeling? Release?) date. I’m sure the reason they don’t is because they bottle condition, and printing labels occurs at different times from when the beers will be ready. If that’s the case, ignore the date on the bottle, and start including a hang tag. Or use a simple sticker like you see on LPF/LPK/LPG. Boom. Done. Simple. Seems like there’s a way to remove confusion and clear this up that costs nearly nothing. I’m also sure no one cares but us.

i think that’s part of the reason of switching these to a year to align with the fruit harvest. that’s an easier (not precise, though) method over just “blend #x”

If it’s bottled, I would think it’ll be out soon. I don’t think he bottle conditions stouts, especially adjuncts ones. Someone said they thought stout week, which is probably not a bad guess.

i thought all the SP beers were bottle conditioned. it’s hard to get a read on that, unless he mentions something in a post or an email, but i’m under the impression everything sits at least 3 months with some of the higher end offerings (Tete, Oude Fermier, Oude La Ruche) sitting for 8-12 months.

I believe many of the stouts and stuff he’s had bottles but not released recently have been delayed more due to logistics and labeling than anything else.

that being said.. who knows!? They seem to do every release differently these days, probably on purpose.

for sure. the brewery description on this website says “Always unfiltered, unpasteurized and bottle-conditioned” so i assume that means the imperial stouts and barleywines too.

D14 conditioned* for almost a year

*in this case it’s because both locations were closed for on-site consumption due to covid

i remember whatever batch of CV that came out summer 2020 must have sat in bottles 4-5 months because they were waiting to hear back on lab tests results.

like you said, it’s always different but if they’re bottle conditioning and that’s how they carb their beers then they definitely have to sit for a period of time in the bottle.

If LC gets OWK, I would bet money it's released before the end of February so that it's on this years membership rather than next years.
