Howdy folks. Thanks @AzfromOz for 3736. Nice photo! It's makin' me thirstier than I already am! Time here for a good ol' Other Half Green City DDH HIPA. One of the better IPAs I've had. As smooth as silk. Happiness. Seeing a bit more sunlight every day now...great to be here. Cheers!

1) Weltenburger Kloster Asam-Bock (6.9%): A German Doppelbock with flavors of sweet banana bread, coffee cake, caramel, and chocolate.
versus
2) Weihenstephaner Korbinian (7.4%): A German Doppelbock with flavors of brown bread, dark grains, and cocoa. Roasty and relatively dry. (Mismatched the two blind)

Winner:
Weihenstephaner Korbinian: First try at Weltenburger. It has great and sweet flavors of coffee cake, caramel, and chocolate. The real cake goes to Weihenstphaner, which seems to always bring a complex flavor profile to their beers without being too sweet. This one is deceptively drinkable with a light roasted note to clean and dry the palate. Definitely one of the best.

Beer # 2 - and Day 12 of dry January - this Bitburger Drive has been one of my favorites - for several years - crisp and refreshing and just a great tasting beer (0 alcohol, 72.6 calories / 16.8 carbs) - I have also enjoyed regular "Bit" for a long time, so not surprised this is really good!

 

Riggs Hefe, which is always amazing.

Enrico Rava and Dino Saluzzi spinning. Their ethereal ECM album Volver. Enrico is a great Italian trumpet player, Dino is an Argentinian Bandoneon player. Its a cool album.



Of coarse there are no album cuts from ECM albums anywhere, so here is Rava's "new" quartet from around 2016, that is excellent as well.

 

Nordic Noir 2. Norwegian strong ale from Nogne Ø.

Can you double-check if this version is really at 6.9 ABV? The "new" (~2019) version (according to the label) should have 7.3% ABV

The rain is just starting here in Henderson County with a forecast of Thunderstorms. Hopefully y'all down in Georgia are not hit with anything worse!
As per my usual i am finding purchases in my beer fridge three to four months ago and belatedly get to enjoy a Fest bier.

Tom, these storms are petering out around Cumming/Dawsonville where I live. I think you guys will be good up there. But the news is reporting a tornado somewhere around LaGrange (South of Atlanta). I have a few Festbiers I hold back for a few months because I love them. Finding one of those is a nice treat! Cheers and stay safe! - David
