Do online rules apply to in person releases? Like if Rev has some DBVSOJ in person on Friday and someone is holding a pack at the register , can I just pull it out of their hands before they complete the transaction and purchase it myself?

    It's 10:28am...
I've been waiting since 9:00:10 with a screen telling me "You're in line to check out".
I'm not mad I missed out, I would just rather have a quick NO, then a drawn out MAYBE.
It's cool though - I have a season pass so it's all good. Cheers to all! :beers:

I haven't gotten any work done this morning just reading all of the facebook trade offers for these beers.

July is 6 months away. When are they announcing the new DW season?

True, I'm just saying their biggest releases disappear in a way that BCBS no longer does. 4 minutes online and DBVSOJ is gone forever (basically), but there are rows of GI's super-hyped barleywine at Binny's 2 months after release, and even Prop is still there (traditionally has been more of a PITA for me to track down).

Now, it's very possible that GI is making wayyyyy more of this stuff, so I can't really account for that, lol.

Won't lie, I was surprised they went with 2pp, especially with how quickly it sold.

I do have to say, I was kind of chuckling to myself when the conversation several days ago was that DBVSOJ was going to last 30 minutes, or hour and a half and such, for purchase. I don't know if that was honest thought by some folks based on how long all the other Deep Wood beers were lasting this year, but I have to believe many of us knew this was going to be almost insta-gone. VSOJ is very sough after, so DBVSOJ... and another year of people finding out Deep Wood beers are legit. ... This was bound to happen.

I was at the DMV when I got stuck in a bizzaro loop of “enter info” “pay” “in line” “enter info” “pay” “in line” trying to buy DBVSOJ while I was getting a new photo taken.

the gods were having a mighty fine chuckle at my double-whammy of logistical hell this morning, but fortunately a fellow BA predicted I’d screw this up, and snagged me one.

So, real question, does having say...10-20oz... of Deep Woods drafts at the release break the rules of dry January?

I used Apple Pay when I checked out, which allowed me to NOT have to enter info at all. I wonder if that helped? It seems that quite a few got tripped up in the “verify” stage.

Unfortunately, both of the Rioter's Reserve variants involve an unblended sweet component of Straight Jacket, so yes, having either of these two will indeed break the rules of dry January.

Fans of release day draft variants might want to check Rev's Twitter for the just announced #3, #4, and #5 draft variants.

Dang, I saw this last night when I was up with my newborn but got lost in the shuffle taking him to the pediatrician. Oh well, I’m sure it’s the more responsible route not spending more money on hooch. I’m sure my wife feels just fine about this

Here are the other 3 drafts for this release

Sanctuary 13: DB Old Boss Deth Ryed (2019) - 16.4%
Give your sweet tooth a cleanse with this dry, boozy, tannic monolith. Dry component Boss Ryeway blended with a touch of dry component Deth's Tar aged for twelve months in a WhislePig Boss Hog Armagnac barrel and "finished" for eighteen months in Heaven Hill Bourbon. Its low residual sugar content accentuates the spicy, oaky, boozy temperament.

    Sanctuary 19: Cursed Man (2019) - 14.7%
We filled a WhistlePig Boss Hog Armagnac Rye barrel with Straight Jacket and after 6 monthst transferred the beer to two Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels. We then blended in a touch of Very Special Old Ryeway we'd had aging in Woodford Double Oak barrels since late 2016. The result is a madman dripping with French and American oak, rye spice, bourbon flavor, barley sweetness, and two years of malt-transforming maturation. Crazy? Awesome? Crazy Awesome.

    Mineshaft Gap (2020) - 12.4%
Our Institutionalized Barleywine takes shelter in Cognac barrels for 12 months before emerging imbued with characteristics of one of the worlds most storied spirits. French oak adds character that is subdued but complex as compared to American varieties, making this a perfect beer for the best of times or the end of times. Enjoy now or store cold.
