$12.99 a six and $24.99 a twelve in NEPA. After an average experience with the cans, I did have better luck with the bottles. Much more vibrant beer. Par for the course with NN.

I haven't seen it this year yet, but I remember last year a store by me had it priced wrong at $10.99 for a 6-pack. They didn't notice for 2 weeks.

In your past experiences, have any of the canned versions had a notable, vibrant hop aroma?

Have any of the bottled versions have muted hop aroma?

    Cheers!

When were the BB 5/6/23 bottled or canned? I assume Troegs is 4 months out from bottling to BB?

Unfortunately yes, I feel like I’m never sure what I will get. I have had better overall luck with bottles the last few years though. I usually really enjoy NN on draft so who knows, maybe it’s just me.

I just remember having bombers from when the brewery was in Harrisburg years ago and being completely blown away. Much like older Flower Power. I should probably just accept my tastes have changed and move on, lol.

I feel exactly the same way.

I had a dental appointment earlier today and I stopped on my way home to visit the Capones bottle shop. While looking over the beers I chatted with Matt Capone and one of our topics of conversation was Nugget Nectar and batch variability. I mentioned to Matt that I have not purchased Nugget Nectar in a long while since I never knew what I was going to get: will it be hoppy like it should or will it just be a malt-bomb?

Just before I got home I stopped at my local Giant supermarket to pick up a few groceries. I stopped by the singles section and to my great joy I saw some bottles of Victory DirtWolf so I immediately decided to place some of those beers in the six-pack holder and then I saw Samuel Smith Winter Welcome so two of those. I had one slot left and when I saw there were bottles of Nugget Nectar I stared at it and it was sort of situation of an angel on one shoulder and a devil on the other. I picked up the bottle and then I put it back but...that bottle did go into the last slot of the six-pack holder. It was like that scene for the movie Dirty Harry:

P.S. I will let you decide whether the angel or the devil 'won' in my decision to buy one bottle of Nugget Nectar.

@ESHBG I thought you might be interested in reading about this mix-a-six.

You’re going to have a great experience, go out and get a 12er with the same BB date, and it will consist of all malt bombs lol.

    Well,...

I have somewhat good news to report. I drank my bottle of Nugget Nectar earlier this evening and it was most definitely not a malt-bomb. Having stated that the hop aroma in this beer did not exactly 'pop' but there was indeed a noticeable hop aroma to this beer. The batch of this bottle is "Freshest By 042723".

For completeness I personally will not be rushing out to purchase a sixpack of this batch of beer but if will visiting the singles section of a local beer retailer I might purchase another bottle (or two) of this specific batch of Nugget Necter.

    Cheers!

I'll answer my own question as I just picked up a 6 pack of bottles ($11.99).
Looks like a 2nd date is listed on the bottle BB 5/4/23 which seems to indicate it was bottled 1/3/23 so yes it is 4 months out. Happy to report NN is just as tasty as it was last year.

You made the right decision and glad to hear that you enjoyed it

Yep I was going to let you know that they have the bottling date within the code underneath the BB date.

Thanks for the review and the last part too. You made me consider grabbing a 6er, but will forgo that idea. Always appreciate your honest opinions.

Well, as I discussed above my intention is to maybe purchase a single (or two) of the same batch of Nugget Nectar as part of a mix-a-six in the future if I see them. I too will not be purchasing a six-pack of this beer.

    Cheers!

I did see that, but can only get a 6er around here. Would rather buy something else rather than take a chance.

I took a chance on a sixer this year as I really looked forward to this beer and I actually slowed down drinking for awhile now.

Anyone hearing news of Double NN releasing this year? One of my favorite beers last year.

It's on tap at a few places by me (SEPA). FWIW, the cans I had last year were bb 5/19/22 so with a 4 month window, that's right about now for a release. Hoping to score some this year again-it wasn't easy last year. Good luck!

I think I saw an email from Troegs saying PA distribution starts Monday.
