what’s up with those small pours! That’s why stopped getting them. Now I ask for whiskey on the rocks. I get more.

I'm not going go dispute that these kinds of situations occur, but don't get me started on explaining it.

 

Did you ever tell the bartender to "just leave the bottle," like they do in the old westerns? I'm dying to try that sometime. With a bottle of Midleton Very Rare.

Yes, high gravity beers do cost more to brew than the typical 5%'er, but not that much more.
Mixed fermentation beers also cost more to brew with aging time, barrels and such but they usually come in a grownup glass.
I brew & drink mostly higher alcohol beers at home so it really gets under my skin when I order a beer that I know I will enjoy only for it to show up in a teeny 7oz snifter. W. T. F?
I can order Long island iced tea in pint glasses until I fall off my barstool, but the 9% beer is too strong to serve in a real glass?

I'd pay the few extra dollars for a manly pour, if need be.
Allagash Curieux was the last beer I had served to me in that way.
I was very upset when the thimble of beer was presented in front of me.
I wanted another, but refused to pay full price for another round & found something else to drink.
Guess what's next up on my brew schedule? Yup, a Curieux clone!
It was a good Triple, different, lightly oaked & a nice dry finish. We'll see how that goes.
Let's start a petition to do away with small pours!
We are all grown adults capable of making our own decisions and when to drink water or call an Über.
You don't see bartenders pouring half shots of Bookers, Macallan 25, Louix XIII, Johnny Blue just because they cost more. You just pay more.

 

Haven't done that, but have told them to keep it close, they're going to be needing it again. Soon.

I hate it when there's a nice Barleywine on tap and it comes in the kids meal size glass. It saves the bartenders time to just give me a damn pint, cuz I am gonna have another if you serve the small pour. Give me the pint, and I'm likely to order something else next. give me a shorty, and I've gotta go for it twice.

Ain't nothin', like having a pint of a 12% ABV beer for $20.

 

I don’t if anyone else responded but it’s $5 for half pours and $9 for full pours regardless of the style. So I ordered the double IPAs. The pricing doesn’t make sense at all. Paying $9 for a seltzer or a light beer? Maybe they figure you over pay and under pay? The double ipa came in the same glass their 5% pale ale did.

 

Prices ain't that bad here, yet. But it'd prolly be a $12-14 buck pint. Which is still preferable to 2-10oz pours at $7-8.
