Over 6 months old, but quite drinkable.

    Canned 07/14/22.

Moderate to vigorous pour yields a one inch light pink head over a pinkish-red body with no lacing.

    Nose of blueberries and citrus.

Taste mirrors nose closely; slightly sweet and tart, but not too tart.
    Blueberry/lemon semi-dry finish.

    Good feel with medium carbonation.

Overall, a pretty good stab at a fruited sour and I'd have this again in the summer,
    instead of waiting 'til January.

    Cheers!

Good evening - the wife and I are splitting an @Roguer inspired beverage:

The Cashew Turtle variant of Jack's Abby Framinghammer Baltic Porter. We've run pretty lukewarm on past variants, but we really dig the base beer so we'll keep trying the mutations when they emerge.

Pour is pretty enough. Dark coffee color and quite opaque. Decent enough tan head that I didn't quite capture. Falls fairly quickly. Not much lacing or residual head. The liquid does coat the glass.

Honestly, first whiff I had to make sure I opened the variant and not the base version. I left it sit for about a half hour (story time for the grandson). Then I could pick up more than the base Framinghammer - definitely captured the smell of the candy but in an incredibly restrained manner. The bourbon is there and a bit of booziness. There is caramel, brown sugar, nuttiness, chocolate like a milk chocolate fudge.

As I sip through this, I am finding the cashew turtle part showing up late in the taste and well into the aftertaste. It's very clearly Framinghammer - bourbon, a bit vanilla, boozy but not hot, the dark fruits thing, molasses, a bit smokey. But towards the end, it does have the namesake candy flavors. There's a buttery nuttiness and I can take easily as cashew. Caramel builds on and is actually pretty strong to me. The chocolate shows up very late, almost an afterthought. I don't find it overly sweet.

The feel is medium, not highly carbonated. Certainly warms the belly eventually. A little powdery chocolate feel at the very end.

Hmmm...it's a lovely beer, actually. I find the way the taste evolves to be interesting. The base beer clearly presents itself, then the other characters come in after the fact. It's quite subtle. I feel like it's missing "something" that would make it exceptional, but I am also not sure what that might be. As it is, an enjoyable variant in the 4.2 area.

My last new beer for the weekend. Harvey's Christmas Ale, an English barleywine. Comes in at 7.5% ABV.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours a light brown with little head. The nose is really interesting. Mild toffee, figs, an earthy note, dark bread, and prunes.

The taste is really smooth and nice. No lack of flavor despite the 7.5% ABV. Again, big malts on the taste. Bread, toffee, raisins, wheat, prunes, figs, and a slightly bitter hoppy note. A very nice beer!

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and somewhat dry. The aftertaste is mostly toffee and dark fruit.

    4.1/5 rDev +7.6%

When have I ever lead you wrong!?
Guinness 0.0 was the best NA beer I have had. Also one of the few I’d drink again.

I’ve thought about buying that one, you both are not the first to say that about the Guiness one.

I’ve enjoyed the athletic stout too, it’s pretty tasty.

Finally getting around to this bad boy!

1 Pint, .9 fl. oz. bottle.

Moderate pour into a 12 ounce snifter yields a one inch plus tan head over a black body with sticky lacing.

Nose of dark roasted malts, maple, and a bit of rum.

Taste follows nose closely with maple (and its requisite sweetness) coming forward.
Finish is rum booziness and a bit of chocolate as it warms.
Alcohol is not hidden by any means.

Very nice creamy mouthfeel with adequate carbonation.

Overall, a delicious dessert beer and one worthy of your consideration.
    Try to find this one!!
    Cheers!!!

    Weldwerks - CoConut Medianoche

This is my first time ever having a stout from weldwerks, and it's my first medianoche (I don't even know if they make stouts that aren't in that 'series'). This is really quite good. I'm a coconut fiend, and this doesn't disappoint It's essentially liquid dessert - milk chocolate coconut. To me, it's sweet but not diabetic sweet. It's less sweet than Coconut Vibes (Shared, aka side project), but it's also less coconut forward. Coconut vibes is also liquid milk chocoluate coconut, but it has a noticeable coconut pop. This is so integrated that the coconut is integrated, but not popping. I'd prefer the popping, but this is way easier to drink than that. If I was only going to buy 1, I'd probably buy coconut vibes only because of that noticeable coconut pop. GOD i love coconut.

Haven't officially rated, but I'd guess that I'll come out around 4.5.

Oh, did I forget it is thicc? again, comes off less thick than coconut vibes.

If I've sent you a box, it probably had that in it. I don't remember either. But I had a 2022 this weekend and it was excellent.

Greetings all from the great northwest where we have had a little blast of winter. Only an inch snow and most of it melted today.

So this weekend we have Festivale, a winter warmer from Terminal Gravity Brewing.

    A good winter ale.

    Until next time

Redline Brewhouse Far From Home Vermont IPA.

Pours a murky orange with ample head that dissipates very slowly. Moderate lacing.

Nose is mixed berries, tropical punch, assorted citrus. Nice.

Taste follows. Berries and mixed tropical fruit with a hint of evergreen in the background. Fairly sweet. No bitterness.

    Medium bodied.

A surprisingly decent IPA from a brewery that has generally left me exclaiming: ‘Meh!’

    Cheers.

I grabbed a can of Ferment's Red Rye Lager while we were at the grocery store the other day, because I've been kind of pining for a good red, and I'm always a fan of rye, so it seemed like a no brainer.

The pour is lovely in a hand blown pokal (the pattern at the base doesn't really come through on camera) from a good family friend of ours (Lark [Olive Glass] this time, not Raven, though they have worked together... I think Lark is actually the first studio Raven worked in as a youngster, but I could be wrong). The liquid is a ruddy/rusty amber colour and crisp and clear. A good sized creamy head never fully dissipates, but just settles into a nice tight cap, with moderate to minimal (but extant!) lacing.

Nose is lightly sweet malts up front -- more honey than caramel, maybe even a touch of floral character -- along with a dull earthy spice that is undeniably largely, but not exclusively, rye. Maybe a hint of light grass underneath as well.

Flavour is less rich than the aroma. A nod to those sweet malts starts us off (though just a small nod) before it goes bone dry with a dull earthy ache and that rye spice. It kind of loses some of its depth when it turns completely dry and ditches the richness of the malts, and I wish it filled out a little bit more. The bitter/spicy rye comes through quite strongly and carries through to the end.

Overall I quite enjoyed it, even if I wished it maintained a little more depth/richness around the middle. Bold rye, solid red/amber character, and the lagering makes it clean and smoothe. Worth checking out if it catches your eye.

    Cheers!!

Decided on Friday, while in N. Idaho, to pick up a couple NA beers that I haven't seen in my usual haunts. Cracked one open tonight
    [IMG]
Tastes like prune juice. I'm not saying that to slam it, it's honestly what it reminds me of. Don't think I'll buy it again.
