I actually think it takes guts to say a beer sucks publicly when you got it for free from the head brewer.

What’s the podcast? I don’t really do social media, it’s just all the memes people have posted are things I don’t get. I checked his website a few times, but it never resonated with me. Always open to a good podcast.

Malt Couture with a Patreon component (paid tiers are $1.87, $4.20 and $6.66 lol). He does it with his friends Stephen and Michael. I know at least Alex and maybe all three of them have experience in improv comedy. They did some live shows at breweries pre-pandemic which looked bonkers with Alex puking on stage at one of them. Seems like the whole DDB schtick is his comedic outlet from the lawyer life.

Feel like this POS post got kind of glossed over and wasn't ridiculed enough.

I'm a little confused by the hate for this. Is @Hopelessly0 lessly0 only a POS because he vialed? or are you assuming he sold it to his friend too? I'm not on-board with someone selling vials, but I could care less if he gave it to his friend. I guess I don't see the harm in his friend trying it?

Not sure where you’re getting anything about being sold to a friend. Just a weird scumbag move, imo, to fill vials of beer to take off site so your friend can get the tick.

Never done it, never witnessed it, but is this someone pouring off vials in the tap room areas or taking their glass/bottle to a bathroom? Either way, you’re suspect
and I find it strange with anyone on board with doing this.

Listen. I find it strange to do a vial, but I'm just not sure why it makes someone a scumbag if they aren't selling it. Consider going to a restaurant and ordering a bottle of wine and not finishing it. I've had plenty of occurrences where they let you take the bottle with you with the cork in it. Or consider a BYOB place - you can certainly take the bottle with you. SP "doesn't allow" you to take the bottle, but if they did would that change your perception of this? Large bottle vs. tiny vial?

Rather than edit, I'll add a second post.

Consider this: If the friend isn't reviewing the beer (and has potential to harm the public reputation), and if this was given and not sold, who is harmed by the action? SP lost no $ and no reputation. So, what makes it a scumbag move?

I think "scumbag move" is a bit harsh to say the least. I do think it's a little eyeroll-worthy to go to such lengths to "sneak" what was intended to be imbibed on site home in a vial. I wouldn't do it - but I'm certainly not burning someone at the stake over it. I guess I just don't understand needing a tick that bad or wanting to get a friend a tick that bad.

Would any of you LC members possibly be interested in swapping a bottle of OWK for Ann? I can make an official post on the trade forum and can add if need be. Trying to get some feelers to see if this is somewhat close.

Maybe this miraculously stays on site for another week or two? Just got back from Vermont but am thinking about making the trip to St. Louis. That cellar list is absolutely incredible, and adding OWK to it is just icing on the cake.

Moving the goalposts a bit. Talking specifically about a brewery.

Keep the circumstance specific, bottle/draft pours at a brewery, that’s what we’re talking about. Taking an outside vessel and filling it so the beer can be brought home and that’s not the intention. I’m sure the brewery doesn’t want that to happen and isn’t their intention/expectation for how they want their beer to be consumed.

And I don’t think it’s a harsh characterization, just enjoy it on-site like everyone else.

I really wish they let you do this especially when most format is 750ml makes it extremely difficult to just go and try certain beers at times

When you looking to go jeevo? I'm heading out the weekend of the 25th (also from Pittsburgh - you wouldn't know this but we've traded voodoo bottles before  )

So I was looking to go during stout week, but with the way that their bottles last on site now that the whale aspect of craft beer has died down a bit, I’m guessing that some of these bottles they have now will last for quite a while so if I don’t make it down for that event, 2/25 is a possibility. Are you going down for the entire weekend?

And of course I remember you and your bro. Your user name gave it away haha.
