Good day BAs! Off to a rousing 29F (-2C) snowy morning - we got nearly one mm over night! Today we are expecting 2-4 inches. A good day to stay indoors, which I plan to do.

    Today's New Breakfast Beer is:

Disappointing - distinctly bourbon but thin, watery, and basically no other flavors or aromas. The lowest I've ever rated a beer from Revolution. Rating 3.86, rDev -10.2%.

Hello @Ozzylizard, thanks for uncorking this thread. Few beers from Revolution brewing supposedly are not too good. No or few brewery can win them all anyway.

    Drinking Houblon Chouffe.

    Cheers.

Back from a sloppy 2.4 mile hike with Miss Emma - it is above freezing and has been snowing and sleeting most of the morning - will likely stay in after taking some lunch over to my mom's place in a bit....

@LarryV made mention yesterday he does not live near any good walking spots in his area....whereabouts in MA are you, kind sir? Not super familar with Massachusetts, but have spent time in the Boston / Cambridge / Concord / Lincoln areas in years past - always found some nice places to walk in those areas.....
I guess I am pretty fortunate to have such a great Metropark system here in my county in Ohio (always ranked very highly nationally), as well as a 100+ mile Towpath trail (where we walked this morning, trailhead is 1/2 mile away), several State Parks and the Cuyahoga Valley Nat'l Park within 20 minutes of me....

Today is my day off this week, and I am enjoying this one that @Beersnake1 sent to me.
Art of Dankness - Imperial IPA - Ritual Brewing - Redlands, CA - 9.2%

I was somewhat afraid to try it, because I was worried it would be "herbal" smelling, which is an aroma that makes me sick. It is not. It is very old school, west coast in nature, and I am so happy it was sent to me. Thanks Tim from the bottom of my heart.

Beautiful clear amber pour. The head is mostly white with hints of amber in it. It looks frothy and the bubbles are quite small. When held up to the light, there's a bit of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass. Head retention is quite good, and the head clings to the glass like glue as it dissipates.
Aroma - I get lots of pine on the nose. I also get some wild earthy aromas from the hops.
Flavor is quite complex. I do get some bread and buttery biscuit up front, these flavors turn to hops quickly, though. I get a ton of pine. I get a earthy, woody flavor. I get a sweet flavor that kicks in.
The body is quite thick. Very sticky, resin feeling to this beer - the hops cling to my throat like superglue.
I'm going to be honest - I was afraid to try this beer because I was afraid it was going to be, shall we say, "Herbal" flavored. That is something I do not enjoy. This is not. It is very much an old school west coast IPA, dialed up a bit. Delicious!

Good morning! Snow is starting back up and it looks like it'll be around for the next few days. If it's going to be winter, then I want the snow. I'm waxing the skis and getting ready to go back out. First a beer.

I just picked up a 12 pack of SN Torpedo in the new packaging, dated 12/15/23. It's good to get this beer at just over a month old

Founders Porter (6.5%): A Porter from Michigan with flavors of dark chocolate, espresso roast with a creamy and smooth body.
    versus
Wiley Roots Deep Roots (7.0%): A Porter from Colorado with flavors of milk chocolate and some sweet cream. Balanced
    versus
3 Sheeps 15-2 (7.2%): A Stout from Wisconsin with flavors of strong, dark and rich chocolate, espresso. Dark and sweet finish. (Incorrectly matched all three blind)

    Rankings:
    1) 3 Sheeps 15-2:
Truly fantastic. Rich, dark chocolate. Incredibly flavorful. Didn't think it was possible to beat Founders, and has a leg up with the ABV, but trust me, the appearance says it all about this one.
    2) Founders Porter: A classic that is nearly impossible to beat. Soft, creamy, and drinkable.
    3) Wiley Roots Deep Roots: A nicely done porter and nothing wrong with this one. Very standard.

Happy hump day ba. Catching some tired hands , for the first time on distro, at least that I’ve seen. Into it with Hophands, apa. A nice easy drinker with subtle citrus notes upfront and a slightly bitter finish. I hope alien church shows up soon.

My 1st from the Extreme Beer Box! I chose this one because it has peanut butter, which I love, but not in beer. Had one B4, and it was overpowering. Much to my surprise, the added junk flavors were quite subdued. I t was pretty solid, but not something I'd buy again.

    1) Drekker Freak Parade (8.2% canned 1/10/23): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Vic Secret, El Dorado, and Mosaic hops for flavors of overripe orange, pineapple, melon with a yeasty, dry, and hoppy bite off the end.
    versus
    2) Drekker Garbage People (8.5% canned 10/31/22): A NEIPA from North Dakota with Mosaic, Galaxy, Citra, and Vic secret for flavors of orange, tropical pineapple, mango, melon, and sweet grape. (Correctly matched the two blind)

    Winner:
    2) Drekker Garbage People:
Another Drekker IPA Battle. These are two of their highly rated NEIPAs. I thought Garbage People was one of their best, but Freak Parade is higher rated. Freak Parade has some overripe and almost prickly yeast flavors, maybe from the hops and only being two weeks out. Suspect that may tame out a bit with some time. Would be interesting to compare these two at the same age as the hop profiles are similar. Garbage People wins in my books. Fantastic balance of American, NZ, mixed with some Galaxy. Complex, juicy, and well-rounded. Still drinking well at nearly three months. Probably the best Drekker I've had in recent memory.
