Trial over. My side won! Long drive done. Now at pub drinking Recycled Brewing’s “Invisible Horseman” a hazy DIPA with Citra, Mosaic and Strata:



Grapefruit and onions. Some hop burn on backend. Mosaic ruins another beer for me. Cheers!

 

Very cool. It's a dang good beer and I wish I had another!

 

1) Hinterland Maple Bock (6.8%): A Bock from Wisconsin with maple syrup for flavors of brown bread, nuts, lightly toasted and dry.
versus
2) Bad Weather Ominous (7.5%): A Brown Ale from Minnesota with flavors of rich caramel and maple syrup. Sweet and malty. (Mismatched the two beers blind)

Winner:
2) Bad Weather Ominous: Both are good. Hinterland Maple Bock drinks easy, clean, and relatively dry. Brown, nutty, and toasted flavors. Bad Weather Ominous is sweeter, heavier, interestingly with more caramel and maple syrup flavors. Drinks more like a doppelbock, and enjoyable for the weather.

Thought I would join @Shanex in a Belgian style to knock some of the late January chill off. Going local though. Ironshield Divine Dubbel 8% ABV. Definitely one of the better made Abbey style beer around Atlanta. Cheers!



A peppy tune from Hank Mobley:

 

1) Toppling Goliath King Sue (7.8% canned 10/5/22): A NEIPA from Iowa that is brewed with Citra hops and has flavors of orange citrus, pineapple, and tropical mango. Soft and smooth.
versus
2) Eagle Park Arabella (8.5% canned 10/25/22): A NEIPA from Wisconsin with Citra hops for flavors of lemon citrus and lemon cream. Soft and smooth. (Correctly matched both beers blind)

Winner:
2) Eagle Park Arabella: The Great Battle of the Citra Hops. I think I did this same head to head last month, but they are so similar had to repeat it. King Sue is a classic and nearly impossible to beat. I don't know that Arabella beats it, but certainly at least tie. These are very similar, but props to Eagle Park for making this outstanding IPA.

 

That looks to be more than an adequate elixir with which to alter the indomitable seasonality. Yesterday's high temp here was 37F with hard driving rain. And I had no whiskey! But that Canned Heat tune sure rings a lovely warm nostalgic bell.....Cheers from Carolina to France!

From a variety pk, here's a new one for me: Surly Cyber Wolf Black IPA 6.5% ABV. Had a couple pints of Surly Furious last night after my gig. Just gorgeous tasting as is this roasty toasty everything Ale. Woof!! Cheers!

Happy Thursday ba. Enjoyed the two bottles, I had yesterday, so I grabbed a whole god damn 6’er today. Bb 4/23,

 

I'm definitely a summer guy. I really hate 37F and rain. I went to a Georgia vs GA. Tech football game many years ago and sat in a 40F rainstorm for four quarters. That was miserable. The only thing that made it better was Georgia won the game.

 

Another basement beer, as I'm trying to deplete them. This one six years old and drinking just fine. The maple has faded a touch, but still delicious. Skol.

 

Nice tune! I like that NA beer too. One of the better ones.
