I have a few issues currently with my drinking habits- let me know if you guys can relate.

    1. My problem the last year or two has been working from home- 3 years ago (just before the pandemic) I commuted around town for work and would get home usually after 5pm, then would have a beer while cooking, maybe one more after. Now, its way to easy to finish work early (around 4-4:30) and have a beer or two, or three before bed. I rarely drink more than that during a night but its adding up too fast. So, I'm working on drinking 1-2 beers max to start, then hopefully tapering off to not drinking at all a few nights a week. That's my goal.

    2. There are too many damn good offerings these days! Most stores around town are lined with new stuff to try and i'm too much of a beer nerd to pass!

    3. Format- I've been on mostly a hop kick the last couple of years. so.. naturally the best ipa's i'm finding are 16 oz cans, and are usually 7+% abv. Now i'm even finding belgian beers, German beers- whatever in 4 pack cans at 16 oz. This fad means i'm getting an extra 4 oz per beer. So, naturally I need to work on finding more sessionable offerings in 12 ounces. But like I said before- its hard to replace the interesting ipa with (insert fancy hop here) with a simple pilsner or whatever.

I think this post is great and love to see what everyone else is doing to stay responsible!

For trying many beers lower ABV, smaller cans, and getting singles would be nice for many. Can see the problem. Maybe the trend could go that way?

Yeah that's a good idea- more singles offered, that way we could try a bigger variety. I dont' know how it is in Finland, but around Colorado (USA) most of our "make your own six pack" or singles coolers in liquor stores really are kind of pathetic usually as far as the variety or uniqueness of what is offered.

Being on an allowance helps a lot:wink: Maybe I should be thankful to my wife that I have the beer thing under control:grin:

My last tip: move to a town with really limited beer options. And then start homebrewing so there is at least some real effort put into it.

My only "trick" that I use is that for and after every beer I drink, I drink a glass of water.
It helps fill you up, quench thirst/boredom & limits beer intake somewhat.
I'm on disability & in constant misery.
Beer & herb are my two pleasures in life, so I enjoy them as needed.
I usually have a beer with lunch, one with dinner & a nightcap. Usually a Belgian style or Dopplebock.
Having them on tap is nice because if I want a 10ozer, that's no prob, feel like a 20oz, sure!
Getting old sux, drink up! You can't take it with you when you go.

I like this plan. Although unless it’s circuit training it won’t burn nearly as many calories as something aerobic. Maybe 300-500 calories per hour if you’re lucky. The majority of weight lifting is resting in between sets.

At least from what I’ve read from studies in which oxygen is measured in controlled environments.

And of course lifting has far more benefits than just burning calories.

    Lagers bro.

Plus you can homebrew tasty low ABV options.

Thats why i added the diet part at the end.
and yea, liftin weight does burn fat just not as much as running stuff...but again diet is key

    Diet is the most important.
also forgot to post a photo
    This is from this morning

and here's the kind of meals i usually eat..i ate the chicken breast and had another serving of veggies as well after this plate...cuz Gainz

Correct. Lifting won't burn many calories, or fat, even counting EPOC. Nor does muscle burn nearly as many calories at rest as was once thought. That being said, it's still very important overall. And for weight loss, diet is number one for sure.

to echo my previous post. True what you said
its the effects of lifting that are beneficial

once you start to see changes , like gaining muscle, more definition and not being a lazy ass just sitting around drinking and not exercising, you change other habits in your life that aren't good for you like diet or drinking too much.

there are many benefits to lifting and some peopl here can prolly use some of them

You have a cool gym that allows beer. I’m at a brewery now having a beer before heading home. Walked here after leg day.

Oh absolutely. I think everyone should have weight/fitness goals and as you get closer to them that one “extra” beer all of a sudden doesn’t seem worth it.

I cut my beer intake when I started watching calories more... so this month. I drink two beers a night--a light beer and an IPA. Maybe I will reduce this further at a later date but for me this is an improvement on where I was with beer. I've tried several non alcoholic beers and so far I'm too disappointed in them. I would rather just drink seltzer water instead of n/a beer

I’ve never seen the point in drinking NA (unless it’s alcohol you’re trying to cut out) considering they often have a very comparable amount of calories to “normal” beer. So I’m with you here. Cheers.

its like vegans eating vegan cheese and vegan meat .

Weird as fuck. You're eating shit mimicking what you're trying to not eat.

I like Two Roads, NEBCO, Nod Hill, Counterweight and East Rock. Fox Farm has a sterling reputation, but I have yet to have any of their beers

Not really. Case in point the 14.9 oz Guinness 0 I drank was:

    74.5 calories
    16.76g carbs
    1.37g protein

Most craft beers are three times that in a serving. And drink one 9% beer and it could be four+ times that (calories).

We are blessed with that the culture is mainly singles, probably costs more per oz though, and that is a classic putoff if trying to go in that direction in for example the States.

Yes, this came up first when googling:
Easy to remember, you get double the calories if 4%, triple if 8%! I think though one of the main effects with NA is there isn't that craving to have many, even if they taste good. So easily you get say a fifth of the calories in a sitting, really starting to matter.

Hm, work schedule has pretty much controlled this for me, probably for the better. In the past I had to have my 2 beers a nite world be damned. But now that I am working predominately from home with people all over the world, my hours have shifted somewhat where I find I am working heavy mornings, little evening and then cranking back up around 11pm til the wee hours. So now I don't think about the drink. If I am having something a beer will go good with for supper, then I will. If I have a throw down meeting at 2am and I am just there for the ride, I will have a beer and then go to bed. I have found over the past 2 years, I probably have about 5 beers during the week, sometimes going several weeks without a beer. I am stocking my fridge with low abv pils and low abv IPA/Pales. Cellar isn't getting drank down because honestly I drink one of those puppies now, I am paying for it the next day. I am fine with this, I don't feel the need to grab every new beer that comes out. Honestly if I walked into a bar and they had SN Pale Ale on tap with 5 new IPA's I have never had, odds are I am grabbing that SNPA. Honestly the best thing to happen in the beer world in the past few years is that Jester King is now canning their Low ABV beers (Le Petit Prince/Grisette/2.9%, Colonel Toby/Saison/3.4%, Queens Order/Saison/4%, Snorkel/Saison/4.2%) and they are priced pretty reasonable, around $12 a 4 pack of pounders. These are game changes because I can have a few of these with no effects at all.
