Heads Up: Karma System Revamp!

Out of curiosity, what exactly is the point of revamping the system? if it's about making it clear for people to understand, surely that could have been done by simply making the information public rather than specifically saying that, "it's a secret!". I'm not "against" changes, I'm just not sure why it needs a revamp?

I'm guessing that one way or another this is to try to get people to chase the carrot, but it's not clear why a full revamp was needed to do so?

Poobah status already went from like 1k or 1.2k to 1.5k since I started on BA. I'm not a huge fan of the goalpost continuing to change. These type of changes - much like marketing campaigns that change names or slogans - feel more about distraction.

Unless the average BA "moves up" under the new regime, it seems like a losing proposition for us to go through a revamp vs. keeping the old system.

Maybe openness is the right direction, even if the secrecy had its charm. Anyhow having a lot of factors and levels adds interest. You can't handle it easily, which is good, you just get something. But it's at least possible to dig in for (us) enthusiasts.

Basically it just seems like the last number has been taken off. I had 10,000+ points before, and 1.000+ now. It's a more streamlined number, and seems like everything is still relative to each other, so far.

First time I've ever been called "likeable".

 

Middle of the revamp put me at a current #6 in most karma. While I'm somewhat happy, I'm also a little disturbed at how much time I've spent on BA.

New BK system so far seems nice. Feels a little more tangible, like badges on Untappd or something. Some of the jumps seem pretty steep. A congratulations and sorry to the first member to review 25,000 beers

 

BA Karma makes me feel special.

 

Used to be a PooBah. The last revamp knocked me down. Was just back up to about 50 points shy of being PooBah again.
