I have used Oznr for a lot of different releases and have never had any of the problems you listed. But we obviously have just had different experiences with both platforms. I too am curious about the fees.

I will say that I had a discussion with another BA, who was very glad for the switch to OZNR. He often has good luck with both the queue and fastest fingers (but not always), and he was burned by the DBVSOJ experience, where he got shut out and "is still" in the waiting room. I know it isn't the same, but that was one of the things that frustrated him.

Personally, I don't really like the fastest fingers releases. If there is "plenty" and 90% of the people get it, I'll get it. If there's not and 50% of the people get it, I maybe get it 25% of the time. And if there's a lower success rate, I don't know if I've ever "won". I know that HA isn't hyped like SP, and so the 'instant sell out' isn't exactly the same concern, but my personal preference would still be the queue on Universe over fastest fingers. Or make it a random draw on OZNR - I'd be fine with that too, although I know I'm more likely to loose out because people can enter at any time.

Also, I like the 2-device option that Universe allowed. Good point.

I’m hoping for a repeat of recent online releases where they show up plentifully in the Balmoral cooler post release.

Same! I have never had an issue with Oznr. It is super easy for the first come, first serve releases. I recently purchased the AC Super Rad set without a hiccup. Of course there was plenty of people complaining about how they added it to their cart and by the time they checked out, it was gone. They're doing it wrong by adding it to cart.

Ugh. I’m not an Oznr fan at all. Bummer.

Same, I've passed on Benthic multiple times at Binny's, and it always hurts since 1) it's historically been one of my favorite stouts and 2) I don't visit HA anymore now that it's not on Lincoln, but $54 isn't exactly cheap, but more importantly, I'm not sure I need 4 of a stout when I have so many others to blow through this "season".

I wish HA/Binny's would sell these by the can. $55 is a hard ask, even for the biggest of fans.

maybe i glossed over it in my excitement but i see where catch hell is being released soon via oznr. was there any info on proxies? they’ve allowed them in the past so no reason to think they wouldn’t again but didn’t see any language on it.

i guess it does end with “more details tomorrow.”

Proxies are allowed. They answered the question in the comments. Guess/likely it will be part of the more details tomorrow.

This is more or less their MO. Every release follows the same format pretty much.

I'm going to Catch Hell since it is one of my faves all time. Been good for 5 weeks in 2023 and way down on costs having only splurged on an extra pack of DBVSOJ in January and a $12.99 2 pack of a lackluster porter this month...

A price increase from ~$19 to $30 (comparing 2020 and 2023 release @ price per oz) is quite a hike imo. I'm not an Oznr user but I'd guess the bulk of the price increase is related to their fees to HA (passed on to the customer in HA's pricing, naturally) and not just HA deciding to raise the price of the beer by itself. I just hope Rev never decides to use Oznr.

I don’t think the $29.99 price tag includes the Oznr fees. The fees are added at check out. After taxes and fees, you’re probably looking at like $36-$37.
