I need to introduce you to Buh. It is a collaboration pilsner between Czechvar and Godspeed (Toronto). It’s the first collaboration that Czechvar has taken part in. It’s quite good.

Only available at the brewery I believe (as well as at Czechvar). If you are really interested, send me a message and I’m sure I can help you out. Cheers.

Olde English HG800 High Gravity. From my review:

Poured cold from a 42-ounce plastic bottle into a Miller Lite Taste Activator Glass. Beautiful crystal-clear golden-colored body, with a three-finger snow-white head that lingered on and on, leaving sheets of lacing. Aromas and flavors of corn, grain, and grass, with notes of tart Granny Smith apple and a slightly floral and herbal undertone. I was expecting a lot of sweetness, which surprisingly never materialized. There is a bit of sweet and tart fruit lingering on the finish, which is mostly dry. For anyone in search of "beer that tastes like beer," look no further.
    4.06/5 (rDev +84.5)

Moral of the story: Always listen to what your Miller Lite Taste Activator Glass is telling you.

    Miller High Life, baby....

Not the cans, but the clear bottles..

Ice cold and it goes awesome with food or by itself...and it's always accessible

Used to live in Japan for over a decade with a 5 years break in Vienna, Austria, then back to Japan for a couple of years and now we are back in Vienna again… Been quite a roller coaster ride over the oceans.

From a BA perspective, Vienna is an amazing place to be because you have unlimited access to the best Austrian, German and Czech beers at a ridiculously low price, let alone some pretty good imports. Beer culture here is second to none.
In Japan I had to pay my @ss off even for domestic lagers…

Cheers to you for taking the proper step to 'accessorize' that drinking experience! :beers:

P.S. In the city where I grew up, the preferred beverages of the bums (that is the word we used 'back in the day') were OE800 and Mad Dog (MD 20/20). There was no duct tape used but they would 'accessorize' by drinking them from a brown paper bag. Apparently you can now buy a cozy to mimic that drinking experience:

It gets all the respect it deserves for being a much worse beer than they advertise it to be, and for the price they ask. I don't hate this beer, and will drink one from time to time, but let's all stop pretending it's anything more than average. I won't waste my money on this beer, but if offered one for free I certainly won't turn it down.

What appeals to me about this one most is the lovely noble hop quality- straw/spice/lemon peel; nothing major, but a nice presence nonetheless. Malt is mild and biscuity.

Unfortunately now I'm seeing it more as a "good for the price" beer, rather than being flat out good like the Konig. That's because the finish is kind of flabby, and a little more bitterness and pop from the water profile would go a long way.

For a party, or filling up a cooler, it's a fine choice.

Came here to say this. Also PBR and Hamms. In college I drank a lot of high life but graduated to Sam Adam's and Bells stouts the same year I turned 21.

Bitburger Premium Pils. It checks all of the boxes for the style, but doesn't even crack a 3.5 rating on here.

My go to drink at Mexican restaurants is Nedra Modelo - any easy drinking dunkel style. Pairs great with peppery foods. I was surprised to find it on the beer list at a “posh” Indian restaurant in London. A few of my European colleagues ordered it as well. Great beer with the range of spices on the tasting menu - malt flavor held up.

Of the “Big Three” Irish stouts, I have always liked Beamish best. Not as sweet as Murphy’s and a little more robust than Guinness. I found this to be particularly true during my brief time living in Cork (‘05), but still true of the imported cans. It is not nearly as popular as the other two, but the best of the three to my tastes.

    Pilsner Urquell currently ranked #200. I don’t understand how this isn’t #1.
