It definitely had its day in the sun, but I hardly hear it mentioned anymore and it’s one of my favorite DIPAs. Really wish I could still get it in AZ

Mackeson Triple XXX Stout. I took a gamble on it last year for the first time and I was like wow, why have I never tried this one before

Try Goldfinger's Vienna it's by far Chicagoland's best Vienna. Runner up is probably Roaring Table Vienna.

Both are caramel malt forward with a less hoppy finish that let's the caramel / malt profile be the star of the show. Perfectly done texture for the style. Both have creamy body yet can still have a clean & slightly dry finish.

Underrated equals just about any beer that isn’t hoppy or barrel-aged.

Did you find it sugary sweet?

I had this beer years ago and it was so sweet I poured it out, this is when I was just out of school and pouring a beer was a no no.

Wondering if my taste was correct.

    Enjoy

I suspect that classifying Boston Lager as being a Vienna Lager is part of the ‘confusion’.

I recently posted in the Oldies but Goodies thread:

“As regards to beer style over the years I have seen a number of styles ascribed to Boston Lager with one being the Vienna Lager. In the past (and today) I will opine that Boston Lager is an American Amber Lager since it is too hoppy to properly fit in the Vienna Lager beer style.”

So, in my opinion comparing Boston Lager to the beers you mentioned is an old fashioned “apples to oranges” situation.

    Cheers!

And you could add the category of beers with flavoring (e.g., pastry stouts) to that list.

    Cheers!

This beer is worthy of discussion in the Oldies but Goodies (Classic) thread.

    Cheers!

I guess if we're gonna say underrated to beer snobs like us, probably Coors Banquet.

$16.98 for a 20-pack of Coors Banquet vs $14.98 for a 2-pack of Bud Light at my local Wal Mart. Coors Banquet smokes pretty much any mass produced American beer.

I guess runner-up would be Yuengling Lager if we're going dollar for value.

I suppose I don't look at macro beers too often. I was heretofore aware of 12, 15, 24 and 30 packs but this is the first time I have 'heard' of 20 packs.

I did a quick web search and apparently other macros package in 20 packs as well:
