What beer are you drinking now? #3764

Good day BAs! Thanks to @ChicagoJ for starting us off today! Death Valley has a depressing sort-of-beauty for me - was finally there last year so another ticked off my bucket list. The two highlights for me, as I approached the end:



and after we climbed out of the valley:



From there we headed north into Sequoia and eventually the Columbia River Gorge - slightly different terrain.

Today's New Breakfast Beer:



Pretty decent porter but somewhat of a let down after reading the label - both maple and bourbon were scarce. Still, more than decent - Thanks Craig - Rating 4.16, rDev -5.12%

 

An industrial lager. The only beer on tap here at the moment. Since I'm on a ship there a no other places to go to. Hope to have more luck when another bar opens later.

Good day BAs! Having cake for breakfast - Hoppin’ Frog’s Peanut Butter Hazelnut Caramel Chocolate Cake Stout:



Best By date unreadable. Poured at 57°. Spot on PB nose and taste. Plenty of chocolate and caramel. Very nutty. A tad thin for a pastry stout, and no perceived alcohol from 8% abv. Not really sweet, just right.

Beautiful breezy sunny 68° morning on the back patio. It should get up to 80° again this afternoon. Much to do today…have a great day y’all, and Cheers!

The triple and quad are the best I think. The blonde is good, but only when get it for a normal price.

Lagunitas IPA. Picked up a 4-pack in the on board tax-free shop.
It is all the same Dutch lager on tap here on this ferry. That sucks

My birthday was yesterday. Among many wines, I also opened this one: Tommie Sjef - Cuvée 2022.



Info from the brewer's website:

This vintage of Cuvée is a blend of extensively macerated beer on Pinot Blanc grapes, some fresher beer on Muscat grapes and a touch of spontaneously fermented wine of Olasz Rizling grapes. The result is an aromatic, appetizing wild ale with a rich acidity and dry finish.

In the nose I detect lychee, melon, elderflower which comes from the Muscat grapes. Further on – white almond, also some tangerine, honey, and a pronounced brett aroma, like hay and barnyard, but in a complementary way. Also in the taste the lychee and melon are present, together with a fruity, firm acidity and a slight and pleasant astringency from the wood and tannins of the grapes. There is also a certain spiciness and minerality coming from the pinot blanc grapes. Cuvée ends dry, with some oak and mineral and citrus notes.

 

So, instead you went for a Dutch IPA.

 

A cold start to the day, but warming up rapidly. I might pull some weeds later, but first I have a couple carpets to clean (both weeds and carpet on my honey do list).

 

Good afternoon BA's! Short 7 hour day today, have to burn 13 hours vacation by 2/16 or lose them. Early out today to mow the yard then Monday after the super bowl sounds like a good day to take off. Hydrate then mow....Juice Force IPA....

 

'Free' beer from tap #3. This is in an on board restaurant setting.
The beer is a somewhat sweet lager. My guess is that it is a Belgian table beer. Nothing wrong with that style. And at its place at an all you can eat (and drink). I'm stuffed, but not drunk.
