This is another cross post with the Big Stouts Box o'Beers. This is revolution Dark Mode a 13.8% imperial milk stout aged in bourbon barrels. Ive really liked everything Ive had from Revolution so excited about this one too!

    onto my review:
I am sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can of this beer poured into my snifter. Part of the Big Stouts Box. Date stamp is filled 12/02/2021.
The beer pours a rich cola brown and rests black coffee in the glass. A frothy beige head foams up about .5 cm and fades to a thin edge layer soon after the pour.
the aroma on this is some fudge brownie and bakers chocolate and a rich dose of bourbon. Also some fusol warmth comes through on the nose. A little brown sugar is also present, but hops are absent.
First sip reveals a fairly thick body with soft and spacious carbonation, not quite still, but not tingly either.
Texture is smooth but also a little sticky on my lips.
Flavor is what I expected, dark chocolate, fudge brownie, molasses and a lot of bourbon. I definitely get some warming heat on the swallow and this lingers after each sip and even is felt in my belly. Again no hop presence that I can detect.
I enjoy this beer, but it is for sure a sipper. The warmth and stickiness make it so.
Glad to have tried this and I find it another solid stout from Revolution.

It’s merely great with some age. Better when fresh. More coffee flavor.

I never see tenfidy out here anymore. for a while we had both available but when Expedition stopped coming around so did tenfidy and brooklyn chocolate stout.
I've learned to accept it for what it is. At least i got Rasputin, Parabola , standard Crude and Stone Imperial Stout (for now) .

It was much better with the chocolate tart. :stuck_out_tongue:

Was it worth the price of admission? Tavour pegged Side Project as the brewer…not sure how much if any difference that makes…$50/bottle. I have two coming. I went against my usual “cinnamon is the devil in stouts” approach because it was Side Project.

saying it’s SP is misleading for sure but also maybe half-true. i was able to get it for LC price ($35) but i thought it was good. it’s definitely heavy on the cinnamon so hopefully that’s ok with you.

Tavour for sure using shady ass marketing by saying its SP and calling it double barreled, but that for sure got hella people to buy it

I tell myself that every time. And yet here I am, perpetually open crates.

Over in the appropriate thread, I did that Harvest Ale bottle/can comparison. Here's the post. I think my guess about canning was wrong @DIM . It looks like B United did it.

So the problem is I had a pre-order which ended up taking longer to get than my crate was open for. Thus I was forced to fill up an additional one with a bunch of stouts that will probably be sub-par as usual. Unfortunately, this next “final” box has Ghost in the Machine added but on waitlist, and it looks like it’s going to be pending for a while. I’m sure I’ll be in this same predicament in a couple weeks and it’ll get added to my crate the day after this one closes

Damn. No, but too late now I suppose unless they let me beg off.

I might email them that the brewery difference seems a little suspect. It hasn’t shipped so…maybe. Cinnamon. Ick. I should have known.

maybe give it a month or three and maybe it will balance out a little. i got hardly any maple which was a little disappointing.
