I was really underwhelmed by that one. What did you think of it?

It’d be pretty tough not to be underwhelmed at that price.

Honestly, Tavour is great for some of the smaller breweries to which we don't have access. My current crate has Lumberbeard, Incendiary, and White Elm in it. All beers close to $10. I love the fact that I can try new stouts from around the country for very low shipping. As for the "big name" breweries (Anchorage, SP, etc.), they overcharge by a lot. I skip those.

Me personally, I’m not surprised by it because these breweries have become notorious for gouging at the source. That being said, if beer shipping was legal in Michigan, I’m sure I would have spent a small fortune on Tavour by now.

I haven't seen it for that price. I bought a can today for $17. Figured I would give it a go! One only lives once!

That seems like a damn good price. I think the last time I saw someone post a pic of the price it was like 84.99 for a 4 pk.

yeah, it’s decent but for starters s’mores isn’t my favorite flavor combo and the barrel is kind of weak. great mouthfeel though and definitely not a drain pour.

now, the coconut cookie monster i had on draft a few months ago was incredible! cheers!

Black Daruma from Japas Cervejaria. A Japanese & Brazilian brewery - and brewed by women.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours jet black with a tiny amount of light tan head. The nose is roasted malts, persimmon, some coffee grounds, and a touch of dark chocolate. Otherwise, this is fairly light on the nose.

The taste is super smooth. Milk chocolate, roasted malts, burnt toffee, brown sugar, a nice fruity note, slight citrus peel, and coffee grounds. Not earth shattering, but a fantastic stout that really showcases the base imperial stout. Very enjoyable.

    you're absolutely correct.
I've had plenty brushes with death but not enough to bring me to drink pastry stouts:stuck_out_tongue:

never liked smores one bit .
my problem with those beers is that the few i have had that resemble an actual dish , Like a cinnabon , peanut butter cup , or oreo ice cream, are always 10000000 miles away from being close.

    i blame my wife

Moksa Singularity OF09. Aged for 25 months in 9 year Old Forester bourbon barrels. Comes in at 13.9% ABV. This is hands down one of the best BA stouts I have ever tasted.

Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with almost no head. The nose is incredible. Vanilla, toffee, bourbon, plums, and tons of malts. Wow - this is probably one of the most barrel-forward noses from a stout.

The taste is off the charts. Wow. The perfect marriage of smooth malts from the stout and huge bourbon notes from the barrel. The extending barrel aging has done wonders. Sometimes this makes the beer a bit too boozy, but this is a sweet spot. Toffee, raisins, chocolate, malt balls, vanilla. The mouthfeel is crazy thick and creamy. One of the best right here. The balance and integration of the barrel is just spot on.

If only Tavour had gems like this. 95% of the stouts have at least 2 adjuncts… neither of which being coffee, or something less subtle than “pounds of real cake and ice cream on top of a creamy lactose base” ok sorry, done with the tavour convo. Guess I’m just lashing out for spending a few thousand dollars on a lot of crap. I’m done!!!!

IDK, people were going to buy it if you called it Shared. All you had to do was just say that Shared is the same brewery as SP, which is the truth.

Term Oil from Toppling Goliath. Poured at fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with almost no head. The nose is S'Mores!! Graham crackers, marshmallow, vanilla, bourbon, maple syrup, and milk chocolate. Amazing.

The taste is super smooth. Chocolate, maple, vanilla, graham crackers, and some bourbon. Not quite as good as the nose, but pretty awesome. Nice integration of flavors. Mouthfeel is thick and creamy, with a sweet vanilla ice cream aftertaste.

Pulled it straight off a cellar shelf. Think I prefer it to start out a bit colder and take a little of its edge off, but still, this thing is reliably delicious.

Cross posted from the Cellaruary thread:

Bell's 35th Anniversary version of Expedition Stout, bottled 9/03/2020. Smokey charred wood, dried plum, fig, darkest of chocolate, some buckwheat honey.

The special edition seemed to crank up the smokey and dark fruit aspects of the regular Expedition Stout (and was a bit higher abv at 11.5% abv)
