Weekend is more officially now started, for most at least. Good morning all!

Currently I am drinking Triple secret Des Moines, which is a great French tripel, not quite in the league of Westmalle or Karmeliet because it’s a bit too sweet for my palate but I wanted to support somewhat local breweries.

Missus is about to go shopping and run some errands and as it’s another dreary day I’m just gonna keep this place tidy, so home chores after this one:

    Cheers!

[IMG] A nice lazy Saturday and a few of us have claimed you can’t say you drank all day if you don’t start in the morning. Cheers all.

Was supposed to be one and done but missus graciously gifted me Rince Cochon for a good hour spent cleaning the place and earlier this week the car. No good deeds goes unpunished.

Last nights fun, went downtown Houston to see the wonderful Cecile McLorin Salvant at the Wotham Center. Which is just a great theater.

First stop at La Carafe, the oldest building and bar in Houston.

One my favorite divey bars in town, that also has my favorite jukebox, a real one that is not one of those internet connected things. Sarah Vaughan and Joni Mitchell were playing :sunglasses:

    Yellow Rose in the glass.

Then over to Houston Watch Company, in an old 1912 building that use to be a watch repair shop ha. Great cocktail and whiskey bar (not pictured is some Bourbon ), also has some good beers. Saint Arnold Spring Bock.

Dinner at La Fisheria, really good Mexican seafood. Just some simple tacos, fish, shrimp, and lobster. Ignore or not the Margarita in the background.

Then over to Wortham for the show, love this building, and the theater is top notch. I saw Wynton Marsalis and his brothers walking up to the expensive orchestra seats ha. They have all long been a huge fan of Salvant, and so am I. Will definitely be spinning more of her today.

Good morning, BAs! I've already had a semi-productive morning, so taking a little break. Lunch prep coming soon enough, anyway. :grinning:

A couple of more pictures for La Carafe, some of the artsy stuff on the wall. The big painting in the middle is Gladys

The moose head has a name everyone in the bar calls it, but I can't remember now

I'll be back later with beers and tunes...

Busy day today, but there’s always time to visit with the baby.

Fridays at work, I always try to listen to full albums. These were two from yesterday.

Those tacos look scrumptious, sir. And Houston isn't so far from Nawlins' - sonically or distance-wise- to keep the Marsalis family away. Sounds like a great total evening! I do remember driving straight from San Diego to New Orleans at one point and stopping at a rest area near Houston for refreshment and stretching. It was just shy of daybreak and I heard a stream of Cardinals speaking in their chain language. I knew that I had left the West and the Roadrunners in my dust!

What a night! So jealous! And of course I’m always a step behind you in books (I’m on the waiting list at the library, number 100 something…). Cheers!

Bistro Roca in Blowing Rock features many decades of patron's photos of their dogs. Might sound a touch lame, but everyone looked at each photo and it was enthralling.

Oh yeah, and Delfeayo use to be a music instructor (not sure if he was a full on Professor) at U of H. I would see his bands often when he would play around town. Now I think he has a full time band in NOLA.

Story time...I went to see their dad, Ellis Marsalis play at Snug Harbor in New Orleans. He always had a standing weekend show there, sometimes more. I was waiting in line, and saw Delfeayo wander by, having just seen him play in Houston a week or so prior. I jumped out real quick to say hi, not that he knows me, but he recognized me. Well, I went to get back in line, I was gone for less than 5 minutes, and not out of eye site of anybody in line. Nobody would let me get back in my spot. Delfeayo saw that, came up to me, and then took me back personally to the theater. Got the best seat the house to watch the show.

Its a great book so far. Full on fantasy and myth making, and a fable. I just love Rushdie's writing.

Good Day BAs! Slept in this morning, so getting a late start today - Barrel Aged Krampus Cookies (2022), by Old Irving Brewing Co., Chicago, IL:

Aged in Heaven Hill, Four Roses, and Old Elk Bourbon Barrels. Vanilla and cocoa nibs added. Spectacular! Bourbon, chocolate, oak and vanilla. Lots of mouth warmth from 14%. Not sweet. Dry bourbon finish. My kind of non adjuncty BBA Stout.

Cloudy, humid 74° morning with gusty winds so far this am. Rain forecast for this afternoon. I’ve more junk to move around in the house, and some stuff to the condo, but I’m not feeling it…have a great day y’all, and Cheers!

Good day BAs! Thanks @Shanex for today's start! I never been down to that Texas town but I might just make it next trip. (Guitarguitarguitar). There's a quilt museum there Mrs. Lizard wants to revisit and a chicken ranch, errr, brewery, I'd like to visit.

    Today's New Breakfast Beer:

Nice. The lime is weak (It's Key Lime after all) and the cinnamon is barely noticeable, but overall, it's a passable hazy IPA. Rating 3.89, rDev 0% (May be the first review, at least of the Key Lime variant)
