[IMG] I’ve searching all over my area looking for this one. I’ve heard so many good things about it and hit pay dirt today! Lagunitas, “Willetized “!

Pitch black color poured from the bottle into a tulip glass . Very thin head.

Strong rye aroma with subtle vanilla and caramel hints.

The rye flavor dominates upfront but gives way to a toffee flavor and a very slight black licorice note. Very complex flavors!

I’m so glad to have finally found and tried this. It’s everything I have hoped it would be and at $12.99/4 pack well worth it!

Another monster crowler from @Victory_Sabre1973, 25.4 ounces of new brewery , new beer goodness . Holy schnitzels this is a lot of beer!

Poured into a spiegelau glass , dark brown liquid , two finger dense brown foam cap , occasional horizontal lacings after sips , settles to a ring

The maple aroma appears first…maple syrup, cinnamon, maple syrup and more maple syrup . Smells like French toast

Taste is maple, not over powering or cloyingly sweet, cinnamon , bit of roasted malt, hint of coffee , gentle cinnamon on the finish

Mouthfeel is medium, slight sudsy, light , maple cinnamon flavorful

    good beer

Hope all is well with everyone!!

KBS Chocolate Cherry 11.6% ABV Imperial Stout

Let warm at least 30 minutes before sipping.

Beautiful solid black coffee appearance. Nice dark tannish 2 inch head with great lacing.
Aroma is dark chocolate, bourbon, coffee and charred malts. I really don't notice any cherry scents, I'm sure the bourbon is overpowering them.
Mouthfeel/body is fairly full with a nice chewy feel to it.
Taste upfront is dark chocolates and bourbon with hints of coffee and vanilla.
I definitely get sweet cherries at the finish that stick to the tongue. Bourbon is also pretty present at the finish, which lingers nicely.

It seems as beer warms the sweet cheeries and bourbon stand out more, especially at the finish.

Really like this beer. I get just enough of the sweet cherries that add a little complexity to this beer. Glad the chocolate and bourbon stand out the most. For my palate more cherries might make beer too sweet.

Larry, do you have a Wegmans supermarket near you? I would check there first since my impression is that this beer is solely sold via Wegmans.

    Cheers!

    @springdalebeer

Edit: I just read a post by @Jow13: "When at Jacks Abby I passed over this on draft because planned on grabbing to go but it’s wegman exclusive in cans so missed out."

So it does seem you can drink this beer at the Jack's Abby taproom. :beers:

Third time is charm with this brewery. Jolly Fox Brewing ( Pittsburg, KS ) Crisp and Cozy Brown Ale, 5.4% ABV; 3.38 overall

Pours an effervescent hazel/auburn with a pinky of tan head, fades pretty quickly. Trace of lacing & head retention

    S: Toastyness, a little nuttyness

T: Follows the nose, fairly dry, some woody hops up front & a little misplaced roastyness. A little sweetness sneaks in between some chicory & toastyness, pretty dry once this beer has warmed up. Finishes fairly dry, a little roasty with some woody hops & nuttyness

    MF: Medium body, restrained carbonation

This a very serviceable Brown Ale. The first I've had from these guys that thought was up to snuff. Perhaps a little too roasty for the style

Will give this a go if if I can find it ( most likely in bordering state ) . Love Maiden & that brewery produced some really good cask ales back when I was an active duty E-5 ( the Mesozoic era, otr the late 80s/early 90s )

...that time period would be my E-5 life, too...Germany and PA...one could certainly find a lot more English beers back then in Europe and the US...and if you like porters, I hope you do find this...I'm obviously a fan boy of this one...

Final beer of the day is thanks to @WunderLlama , and it's a big one.

This is amazing. There's so much going on here, and I don't know if I described it all. All I know is amazing, and I'm so happy and thankful I got the chance to try it. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

This beer pours pitch black, looked quite thick and like motor oil. As I was pouring it almost looked nitro, though it isn't. The head is quite thick, and I was saying "stop" as it continued to form, because it was looking like it would overflow the glass. It finally stopped at 3 finger. It is brown, and quite long lasting. It looks quite frothy, and there's great lacing on the glass as it dissipates.
The nose is very roasty. I get malts, of course. Lots of dark chocolate, coffee, and vanilla.
Taste - The flavor is quite complex. I'm getting so much here. It starts out chocolate, and darker chocolate at that. I get vanilla. Coffee comes into play more on the backside. There's a roasted malt biscuit that is also slightly buttery. I also get a hint of smoke on this beer.
The body is full. It almost has a lactose feeling to it, though there's none in here. The bitterness I got in the flavor lingers in my palate.
This is overall very good and delicious.

I'll be back tomorrow night I'm sure.

We picked up a few beers from the excellent Speedee Mart, which specializes in craft beer at some of their locations here this weekend. This first is a gift from my brother, and the first of two planned this weekend from Beer Zombies for me.

    Beer Zombies Boomstick Blonde Ale

    Can Notes:
Gift from brother, 16 oz canned 11/3/22. Brewed and canned by contract brewer Mason Ale Works at 9990 AleSmith Ct. San Diego, CA. (Note - this is the address of AleSmith Brewing. Mason Ale Works lists a current address in San Marcos). 5.5% ABV. Purchased and kept refrigerated.

Yeah. All Right. You Primitive Screwheads, Listen Up. See This? This….Is My Broomstick.

How To Shotgun Step 1: Poke Hole In The X (bottom side of can) Step 2: Place Can Upright & Pull Tab.

Appearance: Clear yellow straw base. Off-white head, bubbly with soapy lacing. Light carbonation. 3.5

    Aroma:
Pepper and bread, light in strength. 3.25

    Taste:
Similar taste, faint strength. A pronounced bitterness overwhelms faint pepper, citrus and yeast flavor. No mas. 2.25

    Mouthfeel:
Firm carbonation adds depth to the light boy. Pronounced tasteless bitterness overwhelms everything, lingering on the finish. 2.5

    Overall:
One and done, my brother liked so glad he has the other two. 2.5

Hope the BZ collaboration beer I have planned to start tomorrow works better.

I think the nearest Wegmans is about 2.5 hours away, but the brewery is about 45 minutes...taproom wins. Pizza and wings, beer.

Gotta get my hands on the dark Czech lager they have out, too. As close as they are to me, I still miss a bunch of their beers.

    Road trip!!!!!!!

Social Project in Bloom Strawberry, Key Lime & Vanilla Sour Ale ( I am calling it a Gose ). 6.0% ABV; 3.77 overall

Pours a hazed amber with a sliver of cream colored head. Zero head retention & lacing

    S: Lemonade & strawberry

T: Tart strawberry lemonade with a little saltnyess & dryness, plus some lime bitterness up front. As this beer warms up, plenty of lime, some tart/dry strawberry & a touch of salt. Finishes dry, tart with salty lime

    MF: Medium body, slight carbonation

Fairly tasty & drinkable, but this more of a one-off as a style I like

Since Valentine's falls on my regular pint night out, I'm skipping my Tues drinking in favor of today

Found at the DABC store and thought why not for NBW?

    Belching Beaver - Phantom Bride

Strong bread and hoppiness, and fairly warming too which was a nice plus. I feel like I don't usually get that in a beer unless it's over 9ish%

    Would certainly try again

Really hoping that flag is at half-staff on Monday, but my betting senses tell me otherwise. For starters, I don't think the Chiefs get to bring their refs witk them like they did the previous games

Here for Hop Nuts 8th Anniversary tonight, they bring out this beer on anniversary nights, my first time that it happened while I was in town.

    Hop Nuts Anniversary Triple IPA

Brewery notes: Written as ABV 10%, 9.7 IBUs, but have a feeling this is reversed as I’ve never seen IBUs reflected in decimals. $8 12 oz draft served in a snifter, my brother’s 12 oz cost $0.88 due to their special today.

Appearance: Slightly murky orange yellow base, light carbonation, fine white bubble head clings for life in the glass thought. 4.0

    Aroma:
Citrus and lemon, sweet but not to, medium to full strength. 4.0

Taste: Citrus and pine strong, and pleasant malt sweet but not too, especially for a triple. Excellent. 4.5

Mouthfeel: Bitter, full creamy slightly resinous body, beer hits you, but still feels less than the high ABV. Nice citrus linger. 4.75

Overall: This is a great triple. I typically don’t go for triples, but like most Hop Nut beers, this is great. I’d take this over a Pliny the Younger. It’s excellent. 4.5

A few more beers planned, trying not to rate tonight with my brother.

    Munich Dunkel
    4.9% ABV by Fat Head's

Poured from tap at the brewery, the body is an opaque dark brown. Small initial head with no lacing of significance during the tasting.

Malty nose with notes of biscuits and roasted nuts and a tiny wisp of sweet malt.

The Munich malts give the taste notes of caramel, light coffee, and cracker.

A medium body, no bitterness, good carbonation yields an easy drinking Dunkel.

Good morning NBS/nbw and thanks @Roguer for hosting this weeks event.
Todays offering is from Taiwan, a fruited Gose that frankly my bias on frited beers had me concerned. A pleasant surprise occured instead. It is definitely fruit forward, however balanced against a very nice salinity that cuts the sweet thread done nicely. One of the mixed 6 our Taiwan based son/wife/granddaughter sent for "testing" Glad to have had this one.

    Cheers all

Poured from a can dated 09/22/22 into the test glass.
A - Slightly murky, deep yellow, light orange color. gentle carbonation meanders topside. A thin ring of white resides at the perimeter.
S - Tropical fruit, yes guava, with a very nice grainy aspect, add a hint of anise and bit of pepery esters.
T - Fruit forward, with a nice salty bite, tropical is the theme here, with a really nice wheat base and slightly spicy, thread.
M - Medium in body, no way around the sweet start, with a salt shift mid way helps balance the offering. Carbonation is slow to add a bit of crispness to the offering. Finish is candied pineapple and pleasantly dry.
O - A pleasant surprise, the use of the fruit was balanced, with the salinity of the Gose. Texture is more round than other Gose Ive had. Call me impressed
