I love this beer. Haven’t seen much of it since the label change. This was bottled 9/22. Still good, but wasn’t refrigerated so it’s definitely not a good representation of how great it usually is

Im back with sharing a beer from the BIG STOUTS box. This is Weathered Souls PB Fusion Stout with 11.5% featuring fudge brownie, peanut butter, and coconut. Lets see where this goes.
    onto my review:
Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. No date stamp on the can.
The beer pours a rich black coffee color with no light passing through when I hold it to the light.
Creamy tan head of 1 cm foams up and fades to a sturdy surface covering. This covering sits around throughout the sampling. Leaves scattered lattice as I drink the beer and I also get dark brown sticky legs like a merlot would have.
Aroma is peanuts, but roasted husky shell peanut and some rich chocolate notes with a bit of dark chocolate fudge. I cant find the coconut here, but the husky peanuts and fudge are rich and dominant.

First sip reveals a medium to thick body and gentle soft carbonation. Beer feels soft on my palate and does leave a bit of sticky feel on my lips after each sip. Also does coat and linger after each sip.
Flavor is roasted malts and some fudge chocolate brownie mixing with some husky peanut notes. Finishes with brownie fudge that lingers after each sip. I dont get the coconut and I also dont get any hops nor any booze on this beer. Its a very enjoyable peanut stout. Glad to have tried this one and Id buy this one again.

    4.34 in the BA DB

I've been drinking from the "Extreme Adjunct Laden Beer Box", this is 5 of 12 and I've dumped as much as I've consumed, most of these have been to sweet drink.

This comes in just over the line at 8.8%abv. Occasionally one of these Golden Stouts can be impressive and interesting. While this one is good, it is a stretch to call it a Stout. On the other hand, that is probably the closest style reference.

The cappuccino is strong, and the vanilla is fortunately better than my expectations. The roasted malt is here, under chocolate malt and caramel. The aroma and flavors correspond tightly. Medium body, watery texture, abv about as expected, mild prickly carbonation.

A worthy example, not great. I would like to see how Golden Stouts might develop if brewers ran with this concept.

Finally cracking Avery Imperialis. Solid BA stout but not catching anything overly nuanced from the BA. Along the lines of Expedition Stout. Enjoyable nonetheless!
    Cheers!

Feel the same way . i assume it's because it was a variety if barrel and the 6 Months of aging as opposed to what we are used to drinking.

Laux Brau from Black & Gray a very tasty Russian Imperial Stout from a small local. Notes of dark fruit and a bit of chocolate. Bought this a couple years ago, it held up well.
